Sorry I haven’t written a blog in forever, I have a bad case of Lazy-ittis.
After an awful 28 hour bus ride on a bus with absolutely Debrief at lake Malawi was incredible. After hearing we’d be going to a parasite infested lake, I imagined that we would be going to a trash infested lake. But oh boy was I wrong. It was like a tropical paradise. Blue sky, crystal clear water, incredible sunsets, and huge and terrifying baboons in every tree. Heres some photos from debrief at Lake Malawi.

After a 5 hour bus ride, we arrive in Lilongwe, Malawi, our ministry location where my team, and another team traveled to where we would be staying and ministering from: African Bible College, Malawi. From hearing previously that Malawi was the second poorest country in the world, I was expecting to be living and doing ministry in the village, and to be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to that, but oh boy did God surprise me when I found out that my team would be working and living at a college campus. I was filled with excitement and fear, because I hate speaking in front of large crowds, but again, I was surprised,
After resting for about two days, we found out we could choose our ministry. We had opportunities such as coaching basketball, swim team, playing soccer with the college soccer team, sorting books at the library and such.
But one ministry stood out to me more than any other… but first let me tell a quick story.
When I was in fourth grade I was given a cheap polaroid camcorder for Christmas. I remember recording everything with it. Bike jumps, skateboarding, wrecking toy cars… you name it! I loved it. It was one of my biggest hobbies. Later on, I got an iPod nano that had a video camera, and would record outside activities with friends like bombing hills on skateboards, bikes, scooters. My most memorable childhood memories weren’t shot on my parents camera, but instead by me, and that was very special, and still is to this day.
As time passed I went through phases and my love of making videos passed on, or so I thought. I followed the rest of my friends, started playing sports, and my camera sat on a shelf in my closet and was eventually lost. But my new hobbies in playing sports never made me happy.
Now fast forward to senior year of high school. One day before I left on a mission trip to Peru, I bought a camera. Little did I know that this purchase would throw me back into what I loved in my early life. Soon I found myself creating more and more short films during my free team. I made around seven videos of that trip to Peru and only ending up releasing one to the public; not because it was the best one I made, but because I couldn’t stop creating. Every time I pick up my camera I feel so much more alive. Like a burning desire inside of me to create more and more. Coming on the world race has been an incredible season of growth in the lord and in videography and photography.
Well back to the main story…
For the two months that I was at African Bible College Malawi, I worked at a tv station. Here, I helped set up for filming, worked behind the cameras, and even editing the shows that would go on television. This was an absolutely incredible experience that I won’t ever forget.
Also I’m alive in Ecuador, so more blogs, videos, and photos coming soon.
Thanks,
Bradley Newton
I also got to hike the third highest mountain with my team. Here’s some Pictures.
