A Moringa tree to be exact. They are found in many hot climates, including the farm at REAP Granada. They planted hundreds of these Moringa trees in hopes of harvesting the seeds and leaves for their nutritional value. If the leaves are dried, the nutritional value significantly increases and could be ground up into powder to be put into capsules or mixed with food. The leaves are high in calcium, iron and about a million other vitamins and minerals that are almost non-existent in the Nicaraguan diet. The lack of these essential nutrients causes a huge spike in diabetes, kidney and liver problems throughout the community. This “tree of life” could potentially be part of the solution to this problem.

God is the giver of life and the giver of every good and perfect gift. All people experience His grace and gifts if credit is given to Him or not. Sometimes that looks like getting a good job, having a good laugh with friends, or receiving the healing benefits of this tree. God wants us to take advantage of the good things as we walk along this path set before us. Our team was able to develop a system of drying, collecting, grinding, and putting the powder into capsules that can be maintained by the staff at REAP Granada. Check out this video that the very talented Nick Fain produced.
