So Tuesday Feb 12th was our first day to serve in Swaziland. We arrived late Monday night after what should have been a measly 3 hour road trip (very short for a racer) but as always on the race, turned into a 13.5 hour trip. I have already found that there is always something beautiful to see on these extra long travels days. We had to stop on top of a mountain while waiting for another team and I was able to just get out and lie on the trailer and look at over all of the beautiful green mountains that Swaziland has to offer.
Our ministry site for the month is the AIM owned anchor NCP (neighborhood care point). It’s an organization that feeds 30,000 children between 30 NCPs. The culture here is for the older generation to take in and care for the younger generation as the middle generation is disappearing quickly due to an AIDS epidemic. So they decided to all get together and form these NCPs to use more resources to feed and care for more at one time.
Tuesday I was placed on the manual labor team to clean up blocks, wood and concrete chunks from around a newly built church onsite at our ministry. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful here. Swaziland is a peaceful country and loves to see Americans coming to help.
