The past few days here have been Amazing.

Earlier this week we walked to this cross on top of a mountain.  There is a large cross there that overlooks the whole city.  It was so beautiful and to say God met us there is an understatement.  We had such an amazing time praying over the city and a family that was up there as well.

We finaly got a chance to work with the community here.  Yesterday we had the oportunity to meet a man named Levi.  Levi works with a ministry, Sharing His Plan. Levi is a engineer that has chosen to move to Guatemala and build houses for people in need.  He recently purchased a new lot that he is going to develop his compound on.  Honestly, it looks like a prision yard. It is four concrete walls with razor wire on the top.  (that is very comon here) He has a layout design of what he is doing with the place and it is very cool.

Levi is building a large house for missionaries to rest in as they are here in Guatemala or coming off the field in need of rest. He is also developing his workshop where he is building the panels for the houses.  We are beyond blessed to be the foundation of this undertaking.  Yesterday nine of us spent six hours digging a ditch.  This ditch will actually allow electrisity and water to be run to the missionary house!  It sounds small but we believe it is huge! If we were not here Levi would have to do it on his own, which would take weeks.  Because of our help Levi can focus on other tasks and this gets his ministry up and functioning so much sooner.  Yesterdays work was in the top five hardest days of labor i have ever had!  The ground we were digging up had a four to eight inch layer of limestone on the top.  Once we penetrated the limestone wh had two inches of soft dirt proceded by bricks.  We dug a ditch that was two feet deep one foot wide and around one hundred fifty feet long.  It was intenes, but we did not give up or relent!

Levi is building panels that are constructed from concrete and foam. The panels that he construcst interlock with other panels thus constructing a house.  His design is so effective he can put up a house in half a day to a day.  Guatemala has a lot of earth quakes and is prone to landslides due to deforestation.  Many houses are knocked down a year, and many more families have never head a house.  Many of the houses here are built from cinderblocks which are not waterproof.  The blocks absorb moisture and create an atmosphere where mold thrives.  Many of the families here breathe in mold all day long and have no clue.  Levi’s system utilizes a concrete that does no allow mold to cultivate therefore changing the health and lives of the people.  We get to work with that! We are changing lives!

Tomorrow we get to make water filters and stoves! I will elaborate tomorrow on what a blessing that will be!
