“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”Isaiah 6:8-9

As I am sitting here at my desk writing this post and listening to music, I look out the window, and we have a light snow falling to the ground which makes me think to myself that at this time next year, I’m going to be in Central America and to me that is such a awesome thought which leads me to write this post about just where exactly I will be serving for the next 11 months (thanks to an awesome couple at my church who inspired me to write this post since they asked me this question when I was talking to them at church this morning).

Q. Do you know where you will be going on World Race?

A. Yes

When I was applying for World Race, I was given the option of three different routes to go on.  All three of them had some pretty intriguing places, and all of them had at least one country that was on my bucket list to maybe visit someday, but after much consideration and prayer, I settled on route 3.

So where will I be going on route 3 and why this route?

Central America: Belize-El Salvador-Honduras

Asia: Vietnam-Cambodia

Eastern Europe: Albania-Serbia-Romania

Africa: Ethiopia-Uganda-Rwanda

The reasoning behind me choosing this route is a combination of where I feel called to serve and personal interest, but certain countries do have a little bit of a story behind them which also led to me choosing this route.

I remember as a kid watching the nightly news and hearing about all the awful events that were taking place in the faraway lands of both Rwanda and Serbia, and I felt sad, and wished that there was something that I could do to help but didn’t know how back then, and little did I know that thought I had when I was a kid would come full circle to today and I truly feel that now I can go to those countries and provide a sense of hope and comfort to the people who lived though those terrible times of those countries, and help in the ongoing recovery of that country.

The other country on here that has a deep personal connection to me is Vietnam.  You see my dad is a Vietnam veteran having served in the US Air Force during the war, and was there during the Tet Offensive in 1968, and it is because of him that I have always wanted to go to Vietnam since I’ve heard his stories from being there at that time in our history, and it has always interested me.  I am very close to my dad, so it is an honor for me to have a chance to go to the country he served in to serve in myself but only in a different way.

As far as the other countries that I will serving in goes, I see them as other areas in which I am called to served, and I am looking forward to what plans God will have for me and the rest of my squad in all of these countries.

Remember I can’t do this alone as I need all of your support whether it be through generous donations or prayers!

Til next time your fellow sister in Christ,

Bonnie
