BEFORE TRAINING CAMP:
I drove down to Georgia a couple of days early to give me a chance to sightsee around Atlanta, and to meet up with a few other of my squamates, and enjoy some time before training camp to get to know a few of them. I ended up meeting both Issac & Brittany at the original Chick Fil A outside of the Atlanta airport, before I headed back to the airport to pickup both Rocky & Marissa. I had this idea that it was was going to feel really weird & awkward to finally meet them, but as it turned out that it wasn’t awkward al all as we greeted each other like long lost brother & sisters (meeting the rest of the squad, well to be honest that was a bit awkward for me), after that we all headed to spend the afternoon at the Georgia Aquarium before heading to pick up Samuel from the airport then head to our airbnb for the night.

The next day, We all headed out to grab smoothies & coffee before splitting up, and the guys went to a local mall, and us gals went back to downtown ATL and did more sightseeing as Marissa & Brittany went to the Civil Rights museum & Rocky and I went to the World of Coke for a couple hours before heading to check into training camp.
AFTER TRAINING CAMP:
As I mentioned in my previous blog about training camp, I spent the weekend after training camp in Atlanta as a way for me to decompress from everything that went on during training camp, and to get some much needed alone time which is something that I have already learned not to take for granted anymore as I know its gonna be extremely limited to me for the next year (thank god for being a night owl). Anyways here’s a look at my debrief weekend:
Saturday
After being released from training camp at around 10am that morning, I had the pleasure of driving my squadmates Sarah Ann & Re back to Atlanta as Re was meeting up with one of her friends, and I took Sarah Ann to the airport so that she could catch her flight, but not before we stopped at Chick Fil A & the gas station. As a thank you for driving Re to her friend’s house, she invited me to lunch with the 2 of them and Sarah Ann, which I gladly accepted as once I found out the place I was excited for it was a bar called The Vortex, and it was a wild place as far as decor went including an shall we say a interesting statue by the door that supposedly if you rub it you’ll have good luck (which for the record I did touch it). I had seen this place are various shows on the travel channel whenever Atlanta was featured, and it was on my list of places to eat whenever I got back down there. I had the Fat Elvis burger which was a cheeseburger with friend bananas & peanut butter, and it was so good, and then afterwards we headed over to a starbucks, but this wasn’t a normal starbucks, but a starbucks reserve which means it has a wider range of coffee & other goodies not found at a normal one such as higher grade coffee & ice cream to their menu items. Once we dropped Re back off at her friend’s apartment, I took Sarah Ann to the airport, and dropped her off there, before I continued on my way to visit Stone Mountain.

Unfortunately my time there was cut short due to a thunderstorm that rolled in, but I still managed to get all of the pictures that I wanted, and did some exploring of the grounds. After I left, I headed to my hotel to check in and rest up a bit before the Braves/Rockies game that I was going to that night. I have this life goal of attending a game at all 32 MLB stadiums, and Suntrust park was my 14th ballpark. The Braves lost in extra innings by the score of 5-3. I also finally got to have pizza for dinner as I missed eating pizza while at training camp, and I must say that pizza is one of my favorite foods.
Sunday
First off let me say just how glorious a nice hot shower, and a night spent in a soft king bed in a AC filled room feels after spending 10 days sleeping on the ground in a tent in the Georgia heat & humidity. IT WAS HEAVEN!!!!!!!! plus it also good to sleep in past 6am too.
Once I got up & got ready, I headed to downtown Atlanta to go to the College Football HOF, and I totally loved it! I spent about 3 hours there taking in all the exhibits, and interactive features. I prob spent about 45 minutes staring at and trying to name all the college helmets that were up on the helmet wall as it was filled with every college’s that had a football team from D I-III, including the helmet from my university that I graduated from, Capital University in Columbus ohio.

I was in nerd heaven!

My other favorite thing that I did was getting a video recording of my singing “The Victors” & I even tried my hand at the University of Washington fight song as well, but I can’t sing.
After my time at the HOF, I noticed that there were a lot of people dressed in Atlanta FC (the MLS team-pro soccer) gear, so I finally asked someone if there was a game, and they said yes. So thanks to technology I hopped on google and searched for the game, and as it turned out there was a game at 4pm that afternoon, so I managed to find a ticket, and brought it while sitting in Centennial Park, and headed over to Mercedes-Benz stadium for the game. Atlanta FC won by a score of 3-1.

After the game, I just went back to my hotel room and chilled for the rest of the night.
Monday
Had Chick Fil A for breakfast then drove the 11 hours back home to Michigan
I think I ate Chick Fil A like 5 times.
Til next time your fellow sister in Christ,
