When I was watching the route revel back when I was considering applying for the World Race in the fall of 2017, I had already seen the first 2 routes being reveled, and neither one of them 100% spoke to me, so I was ready to give up but chose to stick it out for the final route revel-route 3.

The route 3 revel begun, and at first I really wasn’t impressed with the first 3 countries, and almost walked away, but I forced myself to finish it out, and all I can say is that I am so glad I did because mixed in with the other countries on the route there were 3 specific ones that made me pick this route, and those 3 countries were only known between me & God

Vietnam-Romania & Uganda

In this blog I wanna focus on Uganda, and my final month here as it can only be described as truly God’s timing (as well as his sense of humor).

Back in 2014, I was in London and went to see this musical in the West End called “Book of Mormon”, and the storyline follows the misadventures of 2 Mormon missionaries who get sent to Uganda for their 2 year mission, and their adventures with the locals in a remote village.  Anyways, I am not going to spoil it too much, but it was so funny, and I have actually had so many BOM moments here.

August 2019- Here I am in Arua, Uganda serving with my 3rd and final team: Team Titan, and we have had such an incredible month serving the churches & the local schools here.  As we have spent many mornings playing with the preschool kids at both Joy & Agape preschool.  We teach them our songs & dances and we play games with them.  They absolutely love us, and they climb all over us even me, and I let them, which for me is a huge deal because before the race I really wasn’t much of a kid person mostly due to my lack of patience with kids, but this year they Lord has grown me in that fruit of the spirit as that is just one of the many examples of how the race has changed me, as I have literally been tackled by a mob of 3- 5 year olds during a round of “Red light, Green light.  We have also spent time at the local primary school where we spent time pouring into the students and teachers at the school, and worshiping with them as unlike the US the schools here are Christ focused in their teachings.  We have also spent a day painting 2 of the classrooms at the primary school as well.

Our other main form of ministry is that we have partnered with a few of the local churches in town.  One of the churches is actually a spiritual warfare church where people come from all over to pray, sing, dance, and if needed to have their demons exorcised through the power of prayer.  This was something that I was excited about being able to witness as I have been studying & doing research in that often overlooked aspect of Christianity.  I have seen this done on tv, but I have never been able to see it in person until this month.  I gotta warn you that to witness this is quite intense, but in a weird way also a beautiful thing to see as it just shows the awesome power of God and the Holy Spirit.  We have spent every Sunday at the other church in town that is specifically for the kids where we help lead Sunday worship services, and we have led them in songs, given a message, teach Sunday School, and done dramas for them.  We performed the Everything skit for them as many of the things that are portrayed in that skit are a big problem here.  We also spoke at and performed the skit at the local youth conference as well.  We have also gone to a refugee settlement/orphanage to serve those people/kids there.

A one year mission is our sacrifice!
We are the army of the church of
Jesus Christ!

We’re fighting for a cause,
But we’re really really nice!
We are the army of the Church
Of Jesus Christ!

It’s hard to think about the fact that my time on the Race is coming to an end as next week I’ll be in the town of Jinja for final debrief before heading back to the States.  I have mixed feelings about coming home, but I know that God has something lined up for me when I am home, and I am excited to see what he has in store for me.

Til next time your fellow sister in Christ,

Bonnie
