When I came home from training camp I thought that 6 weeks was going to be a long time, and figured that time would finally slow down, and I could get things done that needed to get done before I left for a year, but now

2 weeks

That’s how long I have left til I launch

Crazy and still I have a to do list that’s 2 pages long

Lord help me get it all done

In all honestly, part of my lack of preparation during these last 4 weeks weren’t totally due to me slacking as I still was working my job and fulfilling my commitment to my final weeks.

My last day of work was yesterday (Sept. 22nd), and it marks my times of goodbyes as I had to not only say goodbye to my job of almost 6 years that I enjoyed (for the most part), but also to my awesome fellow team members & team leaders that I worked with during those years as well.  Unlike a different job that I quit and was happy about quitting, leaving this job felt different as while I was leaving on good terms, I felt guilty about leaving & being excited about that.  I must admit that I did get a little choked up saying goodbye to certain people, and I understand that its not going to get any easier from now til I leave for launch.

But at least I have the memories of all the wild & crazy times at work (as well as the scope scars on my knee haha)

I still have a few more goodbyes to say in the coming week especially next week as next week will truly be the final time that I will see a lot of people until I return next year, and not to mention that my social calendar has quickly filled up!

Month 1 (October) will also be a hard month for me since it will also be the one year anniversary of my aunt’s death, so I worried how I’ll handle that as she knew that I was thinking about doing the WR, but I wasn’t totally set on it yet.

Anyways enough with the emotional stuff as here’s the exciting news!

I REACHED MY 10K GOAL!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all who have donated to my journey! It really does mean the world to me!!!!!  Next stop: 13k!

I found out where I am going to be serving during month 1 in Belize!  My team and I are going to be serving in a town called Independence Belize at a local church! We don’t know exactly what we will be doing to serve them, but whatever it will be we will attack it with an enthusium unknown to mankind.  This is also the very first that this church & its pastor have partnered with World Race & hosted teams, so we  get the awesome opportunity to set the standard for all future racers at this ministry.  It is going to be a challenge, but also fun at the same time, and I have the utmost confidence in my team and myself that we will raise up to this challenge. This first month will be a learning experience for both host & team as neither one of us have done this kind of thing before.

I have been listening to the song “Send Me” by Lecrae (look it up on youtube & shoutout to my squadmate Ashley B for bringing this song to the squad’s attention!) almost on repeat as that has been my jam, and it gets me much more motivated then I already am about going on this adventure.

Til next time your fellow sister in Christ,

Bonnie
