I have 4 pair of shoes I want to tell you about. The first 3 are my shoes. If you don’t know this about me…I love shoes! Before I had a garage sale I had around 70 pairs. Please don’t judge me 😉 About half of them have new homes now, but I still have quite a few. The 3 pairs I want to tell you about are the 3 I am taking with me on the race. My Nike tennis shoes will be for running (I know, I know, don’t laugh…I have good intentions) or for when we are somewhere that we need closed toed shoes. My Reef flip flops will probably get used to shower in or when I just need to slip shoes on quickly. The rest of the time, I will be living in my Chacos! I am currently breaking them in. They came in the mail today! Woohoo! Only wearing 3 pairs of shoes in a week is very uncharacteristic for me, much less only having 3 pairs for 11 whole months!

While we were at training camp, Tom Davis came and spoke to us about his organization that works with orphans. Children’s Hope Chest http://www.hopechest.org/ check it out! Before sharing his stories, he prayed over us that our heart would break for the things that break God’s heart. Try praying that sometime…I’m not gonna lie, it’s intense! He’s telling us tragic stories about orphans in Russia, Ethiopia and Uganda. We’re all sobbing. Here’s where that last pair of shoes I want to tell you about comes in. In Russia, they did a brothel raid. He started pulling things out of a bag that kind of gave you the heebie jeebies. The last things he pulled out, or at least the last thing I remember before I was on the floor crying, was this pair of shoes. To me they look like they would be a 3 year olds. Just think for a second about why those shoes would be in a brothel. Does that not break your heart? Part of me is apprehensive about having to see things like this on the race, and the other part of me feels empowered to do something about it! Please be praying for all of us on my team and squad as we set out in less than 2 weeks to expand God’s Kingdom! Countdown is on…12 days!
