10 Reasons to be thankful – Thailand edition

2. Ritz crackers and peanut butter – I spent most days sitting on my bed at lunch time eating crackers and peanut butter and watching Friends on my laptop. It gave me a tiny bit of alone time for one, and the meal was recognizable so it was a win, win situation.
3. Freedom of religion – This is honestly something I have always said I was thankful for…but I had no idea how thankful I really should be. I can talk to my God anytime I want, anywhere I want, wearing whatever I want and in whatever posture I want…and on top of that He hears me and answers me. Buddha has nothing on my God!
4. Elephants –I got to go on a trek through a God’s gorgeous creation riding on the back and neck of an elephant! I road with my teammate Ryan and our elephant’s name was Jean Pen. Could be my new favorite animal!

5. Family – I feel like I have put this on most months, but it always hits me in a different way. I am thankful that my family’s business is football and not prostitution. I am thankful that my mom believes that I am worth more than $20 a customer. I am thankful that my siblings will never walk down a street like Bangla Road.
6. 7/11 – There were two convenient stores within walking distance that I visited quite frequently and was provided some kind of refreshment, a nice walk and conversation with a squad mate. If only they had Dr. Pepper…
7. God’s plan – Walking into Bangla Road the first night, we all had our swords drawn ready to battle. Lots of good happened and lots of seeds were planted. Did we turn the place over and now have churches in place of the bars like we wanted to see?…not exactly. Did we make advances for the Kingdom?…absolutely! God’s plan is much bigger and better than mine and I am just thankful to be a part of it. He doesn’t need me to change the world. He uses me not just for lost souls, but for me. I learned so much about God through the people on that road. Only God Almighty can bring glory out of that darkness.
Christmas but it was still special. We had a gingerbread house competition
…Santa came to that! We had a Secret Santa gift exchange. We received special letters from our families on Christmas morning, and we had a cook out that consisted of burgers and drumsticks for Christmas lunch. It was an awesome time of fellowship. Definitely a Christmas that I won’t forget.
9. Cereal – We were able to have a bowl of cereal every morning. Corn Flakes that I added sugar too and made me some Frosted Flakes! I’m not a huge cereal eater at home…although I realized I took that luxury for granted. Very thankful to always have breakfast that I would enjoy.
10. God is a good God – He makes all things work together for my good. The ministry this month was heavy. I lost two more teammates who decided to go home. BUT…I know that God is good and he is at work for those who love him!
