Well there is a lot of typical days that each team may be having, but I’m going to tell you how my day goes everyday.
First of all, my team is working with an organization called, “Scripture Union.” They are based all across the world. Their main goal is to go into schools and spread the name of Jesus as well as get the children prepared to have a better future.
So each day our schedule varies, so I’ll just explain a day that happens more than less.
We wake up anywhere from 6am-7am. Some days we work out, some days we don’t, just depends how we are feeling that day. We have our quiet times as well in the morning. We have breakfast around 7:45am every morning, which consist of cornflakes with hot milk, peanut butter and jelly, and coffee/tea, then our driver, Eddy, picks us up about 8am. We head off to the Office where we then make sure we are prepared for the day. About 9am we head out to a school to do a life skills training with them. We teach them anything from “Choosing your friends” to “Being special and boosting your self-esteem”. The age group is 6th and 7th graders about to go off to high school. At the end we have dance parties or Emily teaching them how to Whip and Nae Nae.
We then head back to the office to eat our lunch, which is sandwiches everyday. It might be chopped up bologna with tomatoes, or it might be a sandwich with cucumbers, tomatoes, and some kind of sauce that the name is unknown/too scared to ask.
After lunch we have another school, which is usually college students. We get to pick out whatever lesson plan we want to do that day. Usually it’s a bible study from a book of the Bible or it is whatever is on our heart that God is wanting to share with them.
After that, our “ministry” is over for the day. Most days we go get wifi for a bit to check up on emails or download some Netflix. There is also this place called “Chicken Inn” that we go to very often which is similar to a KFC. We also have a wifi location that we go to that has pretty good wifi. It’s a little coffee kind of shop inside of a hotel.
We get back to our house around 5. Rodrigo and I usually play a couple games of Catan. We have our team time for whatever day it is, then we have dinner which consist of a tiny bit of steak, potatoes, vegetables, and occasionally some beans or rice.
After that we either watch a movie on our tv we have in our house, or we just chill out for a bit. We then get ready for bed.
Us guys have a room to ourselves so we have a nightly ritual. We listen to “Lost Boy” right before we go to sleep and usually sing it too loud to where the girls can hear us and yell at us.
We go to bed anywhere from 8pm-10pm, but usually on the earlier side. Well at least for me, I like my sleep.
Anyways, life here in Zim is so so good and Africa is treating me well! I’ve gotten a little sick but not too bad.
The devil is testing me a little bit with sleep. These last two weeks I have been sleeping a ton and I’m still tired, I don’t know what the source of it is. Whether I’m trying to catch up from lack of sleep the last 2 months or if it’s my eating habits, I don’t know. But I could use prayer for that and more energy throughout the day.
The people of Zim could use some prayer as well. Last night their president resigned from office and he has been their president for like 30 something years. He was 93 years old!
