Today is the Best day of my Life
It is so easy to look forward to tomorrow, or the weekend, or the next big event. Every moment is rich, but can be easily missed when you are not present within it. I don’t want to ever look back on this wildly unique year of my life and think that I missed out on anything. Better yet; I don’t want to ever be able to look back on any part of my life in that way. So, I am learning to live like everyday is the best day of my life.
The biggest step I am learning (with thanks to our ministry host, Gabe) is to live above my feelings. I am often hungry, tired, or just not feeling well here, but all of that is just a distraction from having the best day ever. It IS possible to experience an amazing day while being: hungry, tired and sick. After all, people around the world live like that most of the year. Happiness does not have to follow comfort, and joy comes from the Lord. Therefore, everyday can be a beautiful day.
Every moment I spend here seeking comfort is a moment that I will most likely miss out on how God’s moving. It means I could miss out on: swing dancing with little kids, playing an extra game of soccer, meeting and building a relationship with someone on the crammed chicken bus, or ultimately not getting to share the love of Jesus with someone. I am learning to max out every day by seeking and appreciating the beauty in each individual moment of the day. There is no place I would rather be than here in this moment. Tomorrow can wait, I am only in the here and now, and thats ultimately making these the best days I have ever experienced. I know that life isn’t always easy and terrible things that we have no control over will happen, but often a day is what you make it. So, make it the best day of your life.
Thanks for all the prayer and support. God is moving here and Guatemalans are meeting and encountering Jesus every day!
Love always,
B
