A few days ago while I was off of work I was relaxing at home watching some of the NBA playoffs while being in the comfort of my apartment on the couch. Around 10:30pm I have picked up a new hobbie to do since I have been called to The World Race! The new thing for me to do on nights off from work late is to get on Google+ to chat with my new brothers and sisters Christ has given me for The World Race! This technology is awesome! I get to video chat with people from all over the United States plus this gives me a chance to know my World Race Teammates before I go to Training Camp in October and before I depart the United States to Kenya in January 2013.
Well there's something interesting happening in my life since God has put the World Race opportunity before me: Technology has not been my biggest friend, in fact technology has been my worst enemy at times. Right before I interviewed for The World Race in April my XBOX 360 which is 6 years old blew up on me. I guess God was telling me with a sense of humor, Blake you will not need the XBOX 360 since your going into ministry for the calling over your life. Then my laptop is 5 years old and there's many problems with this and is on my last legs.(I will be getting a new thin laptop so I can blog, put up pictures, and communicate with people when I have time during the race.) Then, my IPhone 4s which is the only way I can talk to people using Google+ sometimes goes in and out on me while I am chatting with them. (Trust me my teammates know this all too well by now!) My IPhone charger broke also so the only way I can charge my phone is by car charger. I think God is allowing these things to happen to me so I will not be as involved in technology as sometimes I tend to be at times.
I was chatting with 5 other teammates a few nights ago and I noticed my phone was down to 10% battery life. So I run out to my car and plug in my phone and keep chatting with my friends in my car. Then, interesting things started to happen to me!
- When I was using Google+ on my IPhone 4s, my phone started acting up again on Google+
- After I few times of going in and out on Google+, I finally said goodbye to my teammates at 12:35am Eastern time late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning.
- After I get out of my car, I did something I never have done in my life, I LOCKED my keys and my phone in my car.
At this point, I am thinking I am so crazy! I never LOCK my keys and my phone in my vehicle. No way of getting back in my apartment and no phone what do I do now?
First thing comes to my mind is I am going to pick my lock! So I go to my closet right next to my apartment and I saw some Christmas ornament hooks! I said I will pick the lock with this, well after a few tries this was unsuccessful. I came to the realization of sleeping outside for the night. I went back up to my apartment and I slept on the porch on the hardwood and in a lawn chair. The temperature outside was in the lower to mid 50's with wind outside. I was a little cold but I did survive! At 6:37am I was able to get AAA to let me back into my car and I got my keys and phone back!
God has called me to The World Race and on the race we will not have the things we take for granted here in the United States. We are blessed to have air conditioning, food, shelter, vehicles to drive at anytime we want to go anywhere, and we can live in any house/apartment we want. We are truely blessed and spoiled here in the United States.
John 14:13-14 NKJV says, "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it."
A few nights ago was a little appetizer of what The World Race sleeping conditions will be like for me. God has called me to be on The World Race as a missionary for reaching lost people for Jesus! I am willing to sleep outside in a tent, on the ground, on the floor of a one-room house, on the street , and anywhere He wants me to be for His calling whether it is 90 degrees at night or 5 degrees at night. When God calls you to do something you do it no matter what your feelings are or what your personal peferences are, God doesn't care when He tells you to do something DO IT!!
