John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

1 John 2:23
No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect”

Many people whom I love and adore are “proud” of me for going out and seeing the world, for helping people less fortunate than myself, or for following my heart and finding my place.  Over and over again I have been encouraged with comments of how happy people are that Christianity works for me as we are all just trying to find our way through this crazy thing called life.  Well after reading the words of 1 Peter 3:15 I have come to the realization that I must make it clear to any and all who may be reading this blog why I am doing what I am doing.  This is not meant to offend and I pray that it is received with the same gentleness and respect that my heart longs to write with; however, this is my answer.

I am not on this trip as part of some phase of life.  I am not on this trip to see the world and do good works along the way.  I am on this trip because I have a personal relationship with “the way the truth and the life” and it is my desire to proclaim his name to the nations.  As I have been teaching a lot of English, I have been reminded of the difference between the article -a- and the article -the-.  You see, “the” is a definite article referring to something very specific, while “a” is an indefinite article referring to an option among many.  With this being said, based on the Bible that I believe to be the inspired word of God, Jesus is the only way.  Religions are not all one in the same and we are not people on many different roads with a common destiny in sight.  Again, God’s word tells me that “No one who denies the Son has the Father;” there is no one without the other.  Jesus is the way to the Father, period.

My love for this Jesus is so real and so true that my greatest desire is to proclaim His name to the nations.  I want everyone to know that there is something different here.  It’s not an obligation but a love, not a law-enforced dictatorship but a choice, not a phase but a lifestyle, not something to get me through this life but my reason for living.  It is not a good story but the truth, not something to be earned but a free gift, not at all easy but worth it.  It is not a way but the way, not a truth but the truth, not a life but the life.
