Here is Barack’s Story Video Style that my beautiful sister, Ashley Higgins did as well as the story on how I met Barack!

“I need to go to Nyakato Sokoni, does this go all the way there.?” “Hmm hmm”, says the conductor. Sweet, I don’t have to get off and get on another dolla dolla. We’re just driving along and the road looks familiar, so I quietly sit by the window by myself eagerly awaiting my drop off point. We start stopping frequently and I’m looking out to the water on my right. This doesn’t seem right, I thought, but maybe this is just a longer way to the house. I’ll stay on for a few more minutes, and then maybe I’ll ask. If I ask, all the people will start laughing at me like they did the last time we got lost. I’m starting to get frustrated that I can’t speak the language. I’m annoyed that I’m lost and I don’t know how to get back. God, please send me someone that speaks english and can help me get back cause now I’m really far, I think. I need to ask the conductor if this is heading to Nyakoto Sokoni. “Excuse me, is this headed to Nyakoto Sokoni?” “No,” the conductor said. “Oh no, where am I?”

A couple seconds later, a young man in front of me leaned back and said in english, “you need to go to Nyakoto Sokoni?” “Yes, please.” Our dolla dolla had stopped and he started telling me I need to get off, catch a dolla dolla going the other way, head into town and catch another one to Nyakoto Sokoni. I guess I must have looked completely confused and helpless because next thing I knew the young man and I were getting off and walking to the opposite side of the street. He told me that he would have to escort me and I asked “you’re going to have to go to the opposite direction to help me?” “Yes, but you need help, and you’re new to Tanzania so it’s no problem really,” and he smiles as we get into another dolla dolla going back to town. I ask him his name and he says Barack.  I’m sitting next to him relieved, and thanking God for sending me this angel. I’m praying that he doesn’t start hitting on me or making me feel unsafe. He doesn’t, so I ask him “are you born again or something?” He says, no and I tell him I am. We chat for a little bit and he tells me where he works, I compliment him on his english and I make sure he’s taking me back to town. He replies, “yes, I’m taking you back and making sure you get to Nyakoto Sokoni.” We get to town and exit the dolla dolla. As we’re walking he asks who are you staying with and if I’m a preacher. “No, I’m not a preacher, I’m a missionary.” “What religion are you and what do you believe?,” I ask. He says, “I’m Roman Catholic.” “What’s keeping you from believing in Jesus and having him in your heart?” “Do you want Jesus?”

We walked down to the corner and I asked him if he knew what sin was, and he said, “yes, its when you do wrong.” “Do you know that Jesus died for your sin and that he loves you like crazy?” “He lived a perfect life of no sin, and died a brutal death for you.” “If you would’ve been the only person on earth and even his enemy, he would’ve died for you, do you understand?” “Yes, I do.” “Do you want to ask Jesus into your heart and have him forgive you of your sin?” “Yes, I do, and I understand what’s happening. I haven’t had him in my heart because no one has told me what you’re telling me now.” We walked right over to the corner under a patch of shade and I told him, “I’m going to pray with you to ask Jesus into your heart.” He says, “okay and I’m going to repeat what you say.” We prayed and I just looked him and said, “we’re family now and you’re my brother, isn’t that exciting?” “Yes, he’s in my heart.” I told him how there was a party going on in heaven for him and that Jesus is overjoyed with the angels. We hugged and he wrote his number on my hand so I could call him to meet up again.

I walked away with tears in my eyes and joy in my heart. This is my life, I couldn’t be more fulfilled. I couldn’t wait to tell the story and meet up with him again. I pretty much became addicted to sharing my Jesus. He has revived me in a way I could’ve never expected and I know for sure that God uses every opportunity if we are available. I got lost on that dolla dolla, so Barack could help me find my way home and that Jesus could save Barack.

The verses in the video are from Luke 15 and I love the story of the prodigal son so much that I felt it had to be included in the video Ashley did.
