God spoke to my heart recently on my drive to work – "Where are your eyes focused?” When my eyes are upon the here and now, things can seem completely overwhelming. Difficult circumstances, questions that don't have good answers, pain that seems unbearable, it all seems like the wind and waves of this life are constantly crashing down threatening to sink me. But when I place my eye upon the things of the eternal, the wind and waves seem to quiet under the shadow of something much greater. I am a pilgrim passing through this world and this world is not my home. This truth refocuses my eyes upon how to properly view circumstances and how I should base my decisions while I am upon this earth. Am I going to chose the safe route? I going to follow the voice of God? Wherever He leads? Whatever the cost? Christ only needed to speak to the raging seas (Mark 4:35-41) to make them calm. He is calling me to trust Him…to have faith in Him. That He is with me in the storms and won't allow the sea to swallow me. “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:40). Jesus is in the boat with me as I travel the uneasy waters of this life but what do I have to fear when the God of the universe is in the boat with me!!! Rather the wind and waves are being used to grow and develop my faith in Him. Thank you Lord for the wind and the waves. Grow me in You…I trust You…my eyes are upon You!
