Getting to Kenya…Part 2

The House is Sold!!!….or is it???

“Sink or swim I'm going to trust God. I'd rather fail having trusted God, than succeed not having trusted Him”

I can remember thinking this thought as I made the decision to press forward in obedience to God's voice. With some of the surrounding circumstance in my life obedience seemed irrational and illogical but I could not escape the call to trust and believe Him. However, this would only be the first of many times in the next two months that this same call would go forth, challenging me like never before to believe and trust Him

It's now mid May and my house is still not on the market!! – yet, through God's grace, and the help of some amazing people, the remodel was completed hours before I had to leave for the training camp for The World Race. With the house now on the market my first miracle happened – within a week of God provided a buyer!! It was an amazing to see God move on my behalf after choosing to be obedient to His voice. Having a buyer for the house took a huge load off my shoulders, and good thing because I had no idea what the next six weeks held as I wanted for the sale of the house to finalize.

During the next two months God continued to challenge me and stretch me like never before in my life. Like the roots of tree that must sink deep within the soil during times of drought and storms God was taking me to a depth of dependence on Him. Choosing to move much differently than I expected God lead me through a place of where everything continually went the opposite of what I expected and difficult circumstance only got harder each and every day. You see God wanted me to understand that He is faithful to fulfill His word to me despite all the circumstance that may say otherwise.

Ten days before I was to leave on the World Race the sale of my house fell through. The sale of the house was absolutely critical to me going on this trip. So many questions filled my mind: “What does all this mean?”, “did I miss God altogether?”, “what do I do now?” My legs buckled underneath me as the weight of this news, along with so many other agonizing circumstances, all came to boiling point in my life.

Let me introduce you to the miracles in my life

Within moments of choosing, once again, to be obedient to His leading for me to “go” and trust Him, God provided these two people to be used as instruments to bring forth His miracle in my life. . Through an incredible set of circumstance that can only be described as a miracle, God brought two people into my life to buy my house and within a week God had completely turned every circumstance, that had only been only been going bad to worse, to His glory.

As you can tell from reading this blog….I made it!!! I now sit here in Kenya writing this blog and reflecting upon Gods faithfulness in my life. I have faith in God like never before and I trust Him to accomplish His work here. As difficult as this past season of life has been for me God has used it for His glory and I am thankful for that. He has become my rock and my shelter and the God in whom I trust.

“I lift up my eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord the maker of heaven and earth.” Psalms 121:1-2

I wanted to take a moment and say “THANK YOU!!” to a few special groups that have been instrumental to me getting here in Kenya:

• Lake Shore Church!!!!: You have been part of my life for the past 12 years and I have grown so much to love each of you. THANK YOU for your support in prayers – I recognize more and more each day the absolute importance of this. Also THANK YOU for your very generous financial support – it was such a blessing to have you all “bless my socks off – Pastor Brad”. Lastly, THANK YOU for your support, love, and encouragement during this past season of my life. I am so honored to know you and consider you my friends and family.
• My friends at Lake Pointe Medical Center (my previous employer): You guys rock!!! I really do miss you all (or should I say y'all – ha ha) very much. It was a tone of fun working with you through the ups and downs of nursing and I have a tone of great stories because of you. We really do have a great group of people up there and I miss laughing with you. THANK YOU for your abundant support, both financial and emotional, in getting me here to Kenya.
• So many other friend and family who have supported me and helped me through the past 7 months. It’s been a difficult road and I could not have done it without you.

Much more to come about what is going on here in Kenya: What I am doing, what life is like (including some fun facts on differences between America and Kenya), stories of the people here, and most importantly what God is doing.
