This picks up from when we first met the man with a broken hand during our prayer walk.

After finishing our prayer walk we wanted to go see a movie in a nearby theater but when we got there all the seats for the movie we wanted to see were sold out. Since we couldn’t see the movie we went to check out a festival set up on one of the city’s streets instead. We were planning on going there after the movie but figured we go sooner at this point. Almost as soon as we got there we heard someone screaming out to us from a distance. We turned to see who it was, and it was Melur! Jack and Melur hadn’t left for KL yet, but didn’t think they’d see us again unless we went to their cafe later on. When we saw Jack he said it was God that made us meet each other again there and we wholeheartedly agreed. We were all excited to see each other again so soon. We then spent the rest of the night hanging out with them and they invited us to meet up with them again once we got to KL. They said they’d show us around some cool places in KL to see and that we could stay at Jack’s house for the night. We took them up on the offer excited to hang out with them again in a couple days.

When we left KT we took a night bus and arrived to KL on Easter Sunday. We went to the Sunday service at a church called Kingdom City and then met up with Jack and Melur. We hung out with them for the whole day exploring one of the mega malls, eating Burger King, and seeing the new Fast and Furious. It was a great day spent with our new friends. And at the end of it they took us back to Jack’s house and fed us dinner (A world racer always enjoys a free dinner so we were super thankful). We continued to build our new friendships into the evening and slept at Jack’s house that night.

After that awesome day of fun and fellowship our team found ourselves a hostel in KL to stay in. I told Jack and Melur that I wanted to spend another day with them before we left Malaysia and so that’s what I did. I met up with them the day after we got our hostel and I spent the day exploring more of the city with them. They took me to a food court for lunch where we ate inexpensive but great Malaysian food. We had fun checking out different stores in some shopping centers, and then spent the rest of the day at a small theme park that was inside one of the mega malls in KL’s “Time Square”. We literally rode on a roller coaster and other fun rides inside of a mall…it was awesome. The best part really was that I got to spend the whole day with two of my newest friends who I love and got to build my relationship with them before leaving the country.

At the end of the day after we were done at the theme park we went back to the hostel I was staying at so Jack and Melur could see the guys before we had to leave. They got to say goodbye to some of them while some of the others decided to come with us to dinner at the reggae bar. When we were finished eating there the guys that came with us said their goodbyes to them too and I stayed with them a little longer while they were waiting to catch a bus to get home. While we were waiting I asked if I could pray for them and ask the Lord to bless them both and their cafe business in the city. They happily said yes and after praying for them I reminded them that Jesus loves them both so much and that He is pursuing their hearts so they will know the great love that God the Father has for them. I also reminded them that I love them too and am so blessed to have met them and call them my friends. After a heartfelt goodbye we parted ways.

It was in the next couple of days as we were beginning to leave Malaysia that I was reflecting on this first month of life in Asia. I was asking the Lord why ministry looked so different from what we had been doing in Africa. I asked God why He didn’t lead us to stay in some place where His people were already ministering to many others in Malaysia. I asked Him if we had done enough. Did we really do what He wanted us to do during our time here?

The Holy Spirit then reminded me that this is what life back home looks like most of the time. That many days, probably more often than not, I will not be working with some kind of set or scheduled ministry, but that I will just be going about my business living life. That it’s in those times I need to be looking for opportunities to show His love and share His truth with those around me. And that this is what it means to say “life is ministry and ministry is life.”

The Holy Spirit also reminded me that sometimes God just wants to reach out to one or a few people rather than many at a time. He reminded me of the story of Zaccheus (see Luke 19:1-10). It was a time when Jesus went to the city of Jericho and there was a crowd of people waiting for Him, but it was Zaccheus He saw in a tree trying to see Him who He wanted to spend time with and grow closer to because He knew that Zaccheus would receive Him and believe in Him.

All the same after meditating on these things before the Lord I knew it was Jack and Melur who God wanted me to meet and spend time with so that I could have to awesome new friends and let them know that God loves them and is pursuing them.

To Jack and Melur if you are reading this, I truly love and miss you both and am so thankful that God caused our paths to cross. My time with you both was a blessing and I will see you both again someday. Believe it! May God bless you both abundantly in all your endeavors in life.
