Last night in community group, one of my awesome friends, Lauren, gave me this incredible gift. It’s a small coffee filter that you place in your travel mug. All you do is put the coffee in this little cuplike filter, and pour the boiling water over the grounds. It weighs next to nothing and makes an incredible cup of coffee (both of which are priceless on The World Race!)“And this is my prayer, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and debth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God.”
Philippians 1:9-11
Our lives are like this little coffee filter. This filter will not only make an amazing cup of coffee 
for you to savor, but it will also allow you to then share an amazing cup of coffee with your friend. When we pray and ask the Lord to give us discernment it creates a filter in our minds and hearts, allowing us to see and hear the heart of God, and it begins to transform our lives into the perfect image of Christ. Then, after we have been transformed, we will be able to share God’s pure love and grace with those around us. James 3:17-18 says, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”

Lord Jesus, may my life be pure. Lord Jesus, I ask that you would give me a heart and a mind filled with discernment in everything I do and say so that my LOVE may abound. Lord I pray that like that coffee filter, you would filter everything that comes into my heart and mind so that I can hear Your voice and see Your heart. Amen.
