For years I had been wanting to go Asia for its beauty of different traditions, foods and unique people’s perspectives and I have now been out of Asia for 1 week .The countries I will be talking about on this blog will be Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. I was there from November until last week. 1 month in each country.
Things I will miss about Asia:
-One thing that would always happen is that because of my hair color and eyes and skin tone that people would think I have Asian heritage and would speak to me in their language.
-People often say that the Asia culture is very quiet and I think that is not true. They like to party and be loud!! There was so many times early in the morning I would hear loud announcements coming from houses or cars passing by.
-You can make friends with anyone, if you go into a local shop more than 3 times the vendors are your friends and even if they don’t understand you they try their best to build connection. The people are so nice in all 4 countries I went to.
-The people are so hospitable and if you’re their guest they go out of their way for you in whatever way it is.
-We look like a girl band at times so yes we definitely got stopped by random people that asked for our picture and even Facebook 🙂
– One of my favorite things to see was people walking near the beach or on the streets late at night and early in the morning, getting some steps in for the day and stretching their arms and seeing the grandkids doing the same thing the grandparents are doing.
-Asia is full of squatty potty’s and honestly I didn’t really mind them, at most time they actually help the flow and I will miss the “Bum Gun” on the side of the toilet (for the bum)
-Plastic coffee carriers made life so easy when you had to take an order for many people at once.
(My friends I made at the beach in Da Nang, Viet Nam)
(bum gun on the left side, also there is bum-guns in Europe as well.)
(During our ‘temple run’ in Cambodia our ticket receiver wanted a picture with us also wanted us to take a picture of him when we were at the top)
What I will take with me:
– I definitely want to not wear shoes inside of the home or in certain areas of the home. I come to see more clearly it is so much more sanitary. Also if it is possible to purchase an attachable bum gun I will!! HAHA
-I want to be kind and tender when it comes to serving my guests that come to hangout with me or visit me.
-Go to karaoke hang outs with my friends. You don’t have to have the best voice, its all about having fun and a funny experience.
-Have BOLDNESS to wear some cute outfits I would never wear in US, but I will start to!
-Cooking delicious foods that I discovered in the time of being in Asia and all the Tea’s I sent home with my parents. Its very high quality.
-One thing Latino and Asian cultures have in common is how they respect their elders and I want to step up my game in that area.
– I want to have more cups of tea with people. As Greg Mortenson says, its takes 3 cups of tea to really know more about someone’s life.
There is a lot more than just these few points but I don’t want to make this too long.. I’m so sad that I left Asia but that only means that I can go back soon and I hope to take my younger brothers there one day.
Once again, I would like to invite you to make my journey, your journey! Here are three simple ways:
