After five long days of hiking I couldn’t wait to make it to the top of Table Mountain. I kept waiting for the happy “I-did-it” tears to come as I reached the top. I wanted to be consumed with a great feeling of accomplishment and dance and shout with joy.
None of this happened.
There was our team standing at the top of Table mountain. Not a tear came. I didn’t dance.
I stood there waiting for something magical to happen. This was it? Are you kidding me?! I didn’t get it.
I did shout but it was not for joy. It was more out of frustration. The clouds hovered over the mountain like a table cover falls over a table. It caused the temperature to drastically drop. It was freezing! The wind blew violently over us. The water from the cloud felt like tiny sharp needles on my skin. This “victory” didn’t taste great!
That’s when I began wondering, “What is victory?”
Is it reaching the finish line while others are cheering you on?
Nope. Not at all.
Victory is going up the mountain, down the mountain, and doing it all over again and again. It is hearing His voice along the way and sharing His revelations with others. It is not staying at the top but choosing to go down although it may be hard. It is realizing this journey in life with Christ is not meant to be walked out on our own but with others.
He is a God in motion. Our Father is on the move. He is working on our behalf as He paints rainbows in the sky after the rain and gives strength to the weary hearted. And if we are called to reflect Him….let’s be a people on the move, together, not on our own. Let us come in one accord and prophesy life over some bones! Whether you’re going up or down the mountain you are walking towards your victory.
