My home has been in Tizatillo for a few weeks now. To say
I’ve enjoyed my time here is an injustice.
More than enjoyed my time here I have heard the Father’s voice, seen His
works and drawn closer to Him daily.
Walking out of my comfort zone is not easy but I’ve learned
that God isn’t concerned about my comfort but about my character.
Our host has been more than welcoming. Tony and Nidia have
opened the doors of their ministry, home and heart. I have learned through them
what it truly is to live a selfless life. Tony left the states, moved to
Honduras to follow the Lord’s leading in his life. Nidia has left her career as
a reporter to walk alongside her husband and be a part of the move of God at
Zion’s gate.
They have provided great meals for us.
There is also a “pulperia”, a small store on the grounds to help the ministry. Needless to say, losing weight will not be happening this month.
Looking at the land and seeing the progress that we have
made as a squad brings a great sense of accomplishment and unity.
We visited a government-run organization named INPHA. It’s a
place that houses girls who are considered dangerous for society. We shared
songs and testimonies of God’s goodness.
Before leaving INPHA I was drawn to a young girl. I will
call her HOPE. (Her name and face
will not be given for her safety.) As I introduced myself I asked her name. “My
name is depression”, was her response. At this point I was angry at the enemy
and it’s stronghold on this beautiful young girl. I was also sadden that she
has accepted this lie. She then
proceeded to share her life with me. It’s one filled with pain, shame, and
abuse. She showed me her arms filled with fresh and old scars. This is the way
she rids herself of pain. We have visited INPHA a second time. HOPE’s heart and mind are being renewed. She was drawn to the joy that she saw in us. When I told her she can also have that same joy her face light up. By the time our time at INPHA was over we were both singing, “Open the eyes of my heart Lord” together. This is what I was made for, to make my Father known!
We have also taken the church to the streets. We stood at a
busy intersection on a Friday afternoon. We handed out candy with a message,
“Jesus loves you”. We held signs with messages, I’m forgiven, Jesus cares for
you, Honk if you love Jesus, You are loved by Jesus, etc. It was an explosive
experience! We had so many cars honking and giving us thumbs up. We gave away
tons of smiles that went a long ways. We also prayed for others, sang songs,
and simply pointed others to Christ. We even got a picture taken for a local
newspaper and interviewed by a local tv station. God gave us a pulpit and we used it for His
glory! That Friday afternoon hundreds of people went home reminded of God’s
love and as they turned on their television sets that evening they just might
have heard God telling them, “I love you and am waiting for you with open arms.
Come as you are my beloved”.
While being at Zion’s Gate we have been building relationships and playing with the children.
