“At the age of four I had a dream that I still remember
today. I was with my father in his car driving through our neighborhood. After a while we no longer were in my
neighborhood. We arrived at a city I have never seen before. And that very city
is the one I have been looking and searching for.”
After praying for direction we felt lead to go to different
cafes. I spent the afternoon at the café waiting for the Father to show me who
I was to share His hope with. It was getting close to dinnertime. Our host
would be expecting us soon. Yet my mind refused to comprehend and my heart
refused to accept that God would create a day when not a soul would be prepared
for kingdom.
Just then a young man who I had met earlier during the week
walked by. I was surprised to see him as
he should have been long gone from San Pedro but due to the rain he was still
here.
He makes jewelry to sell on the street as he travels the
world. He sat down with me to chat for a while. It was then that he shared his
childhood dream…a city only in his dreams.
He has traveled the world in search of the city. He hoped
for that city to be a reality someday. No longer was he able to remember the
physical features of the city. But the peace and tranquility he felt in that
city still remained vivid in his memory.
My spirit was jumping inside as Ever shared his dream with
me. As he finished his story there was no doubt in my heart and mind that Ever
was the person Father had prepared for this day.
“Ever I have found that city!” I said. His eyes grew bigger.
If I didn’t have his attention before I now had it. That city is not a physical city. It is the
presence of God. He is peace. Ever’s search finally had come to and end.
The Father has been
pursuing Ever from a young age. And He won’t stop. I dare to say he even caused
it to rain for Ever to hear from him this day. He longs to be your peace too.
Yet He does not force himself into someone’s life. He ever so gently whispers
into the heart of man, “I love you”.
My conversation with Ever ended with a prayer. As I prayed
his eyes filled with tears. “Why do you tell me this?, he asked.
My reply, “Your heavenly Father has and will continue to
pursue you relentlessly. He won’t give up on you. You are worth fighting
for. Your search is over”.
Like Ever, the Father is fighting for you and not against
you. Look around you. His creation
declares His works and his pursuing love towards you. If you seek Him, you will find Him. He is
close to you…closer than you think. Call to Him and He will answer.
