A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with my team leader/one of my besties, Alex. She relayed to me a conversation that she had this past month with one of our former squad leaders, Jeremy. He had told her that he had ended the race with a lot of Chik fil a sauce packets that he had never used. Essentially he said:
Don't end the race with a sauce packets. Use em up? Although i don't really use sauce packets…i decided to change it to Starbucks via packets to make it more applicable to myself. All that instant coffee that I use won't taste nearly as good once I am back in the u.s. so I just need to use it now. True, right? On the race, Via packets are definitely a luxury…however, I can imagine that once I have access to my French press, coffeemaker, and a nearby Starbucks…my via packets will be a distant memory.
Once I heard this I couldn't stop thinking about it. It initially struck a chord with me because I also have a seemingly endless supply of via packets. I always try to be well-prepared and I happen to really really love coffee!
However, that's really good life advice too. Don't end the race of life with a 100 via packets (whether that's your money, your gifts, your love, use it now.)
God may have placed you exactly where you are because he wants you to use what you've got now. He's waiting on you to take that step forward.
So….what have I been doing this month? (well, actually by the time i'm posting this it was actually last month) Anyways, one thing is to set aside time for a leisurely coffee date with myself each day. No, really. And it's even become one of my favorite parts of the day because it gives me the opportunity to see think about what I'm doing each day on the race and to really appreciate every little detail of the race from a shared joke with a teammate to the smile on a child's face when they finally begin to grasp the letters of the alphabet. For me, this time has become really sacred and hopefully I can continue it throughout the race.
Regardless of where you are, keep using up those via packets!
