Which would you rather be a cow or a buffalo?

Let me bring your minds to an open green prairie- where many cows and buffalo roam. The hills are roaming and bounding full of wildlife, the birds are chirping and the crisp air blows softly against the tall grass.

To your left you see a large herd of cows. To your right a large herd of buffalo. Both heard are munching away at the grass, roaming the open rolling hills.

The cow and buffalo have many distinct similarities to their broad stature. They also have a bit of differences; coloring, and an internal attitude towards adversity.  You look up and notice the sky start to become darker, you can tell the sky is about to open with rain and a storm is going to roll through this prairie. The cow and the buffalo act surprisingly different to this storm rolling through their prairie.  The heard of cow notices the storm and starts running the opposite direction. While the buffalo charges the storm, running straight towards the heart of the gusting wind of the storm.

I am sure you are wondering who faced the storm better?

It turns out that cows are slow at running.

The storm caught up to the cows, hoovering over them as the rain and wind beat against their bodies.

Eventually the storm passed.

The buffalo charged the heart of the storm.

They ran towards the west as the storm thrashed eastbound.

Eventually the storm passed.

The buffalo ended up not spending as much time in the gusts of wind and rain.

When faced with a storm, would you consider yourself a cow or a buffalo?

At one time or another- I know I have lived as a cow – running from the things that intimidate or scare me; I would avoid the storm altogether.

The reality is our lives as humans is not as different from the story of the cow and buffalo.

The things that scares us the most turn to be the things that excite us the most. Inavertedly we end up running from the very things that we want to have from our lives; goals, passions, hobbies, afraid of failures, being unrealistic, etc.

Cool thing about God is that, He never allows a storm to face us without providing the tools to calm the storm.

The enemy will fan the winds of our fears and consequently we forget where the tools are.

Our trust should enable us to respond to the storms of life through faith rather than in fear.

We are called to persevere through adversity.

Bill Johnson wrote “When we persevere with God, He gives us so much more than a situational answer to prayer.”

Charging the storm like the buffalo yields much more than temporary fear.

The decision is up to you: Will you take on characteristics of a Cow or a Buffalo?

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” –James 1:12

Pray for unity among our team as we step into South Africa. Please pray for an increase of hearing from the Father. Pray for the remaining funds for the World Race to be raised quickly for myself and about 20 other of my squad mates. Pray for the salvation of the people of the 11 countries our squad is touching.

I ask you to give financially. Even if it is $10.00. You aren’t just investing in me. You are investing in the kingdom of God and Him being glorified in 11 countries. If you feel led to support the World Race and global missions, you can do so through my blog! I am in need of $350 to become fully funded!
