To all the people I love-
I am in complete shock and awe as I sit down to announce to all of my family, friends, and acquaintances of this crazy adventure/community I am thrilled to be a part of; THE WORLD RACE.
Standing on the front porch of my family home in Excelsior, Minnesota, I found myself graduated from The University of Minnesota and a yearning to see the world. I found myself wanting to spread my wings and leave the nest. I got a job in Nashville, Tennessee; 15 hours from home (GIDDY UP!!) Nashville has become a home away from home for me. I have met lifelong friends and created community in a city that gains 15 new residents a day. At my first big girl job, I met a World Racer who encouraged me to look into this amazing life changing adventure. Who took part in the World Race several months prior to our meeting and friendship. We talked at length about this 11 month, 11 country life changing experience- but I did not feel that I was ready to make THAT big of commitment. Instead I would sit at my desk and read blogs of fearless people my age furthering the kingdom (all while crying and laughing.)
I asked the same question you probably are wondering; what is The World Race?
The World Race is a transformational experience founded by Adventures in Missions. AIM sends over 100,000 missionaries across the world. The World Race will feed my wanderlust by exploring 11 countries in 11 months spending a month in each country. I have decided that I want MORE; I want more of God, I want more adventure, I want to make a difference, I want to inspire YOU! I will embark on my journey October 2016 and making stops in India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland, and Argentina!
For those of you who know me; you know I am persistent and hardheaded. Honestly this type of blogging and fundraising makes me feel really uncomfortable, but as I always say, “there is no growth in the comfort zone; no comfort in the growth zone.” With God’s and YOUR help, I know we can make this happen. I am asking you all to consider partnering with me in making this daring decision to step out of my comfort zone and travel the world while spreading the gospel. I am asking for your partnership in ways that are uncomfortable for me to ask from family and friends. I am asking for partnership both prayerfully and financially.
In order to make this dream a reality in October 2016 for the World Race, I must fundraise $16,000 for the 11 months that I will be serving the calling the Lord has placed on my heart. No donation is too small- the cost of the trip will include training, insurance, flights, meals and housing for 11 months!
