Cambodia has so far been my favorite month on The Race, these people feel like home. Our team has been sleeping on mats, in the church sanctuary surrounded by a net to protect us from the critters of the night. You can hear from different rooms the contagious laughter of the 7 other woman I am privileged to call sisters and lay my head next to in dreams.  You can feel the sun shining on your face and the breeze blowing through your hair.

Most mornings we awake at 6am and slowly meander down the dirt laden road to our breakfast spot hearing the loud “HELLLOOSS” and giggles from our neighborhood children for the month. Greeted by little Ching Ching and her uncle Toma. Tomas’ family fled Cambodia to northern France in the 70s during the reign of Pol Pot ( If you don’t know anything about this- google it, you will be amazed to find out the horrors this country of people have been through.) We order eggs over rice, an iced coffee and fresh fruit all for 2 dollars- quite the deal if you ask me. We have become one with their small tight knit community, these people have grown quite fondly on my heart.

Our team has broken off in pairs of two to teach English throughout the city of Kompong Chom. I have two different classes a day about a 20 minute moto ride across the city with Pastor Sam and his gorgeous wife Chandrey at their home. This family has been an answer to prayer for me I feel apart of their family of 3. Pastor Sam and his wife love each other so much, Chandrey loves all things French, and has style for days. Pastor Sam shows his daughter how much he loves her by scratching her back and helping her with English over family dinners (which they have so graciously included me in.) Pastor Sam tells me of stories of a span of several weeks hiking in Switzerland and speaking in churches throughout that country, noting on several occasions how the Swiss each potatoes for every meal their love for one another and others makes me feel at home.

My first class are high school students trying to improve their English with dreams to gain scholarships in America- most of these students travel 15-17km, 5 days a week to hang out with me and the 10 other Cambodian students. After this class we teach a class of 15 spunky kids under the age of 10. They love to laugh, and we teach other secret handshakes, most of our lessons consist of word sounds, games of hangman and “Head, shoulders, knees and toes.”

To say I have fallen in love with these people is an understatement. I feel blessed beyond words. I couldn’t have done this without your help and support. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog!

Will yall help me raise 2100 in less than 20 days. I am sure you are wondering how this could be done and we can make it fairly simple as 20 people donating $100, 30 people donating $70, 40 people donating $50 or 100 people donating $20. If you partner with me, I will be able to stay on The World Race for the next 7 months to share stories with you all how God is working through me. I hope you pray and considering helping a sister out. Currently I am in Cambodia working with Life of Missions Church teaching English, and playing with kids.  The last 4 months have transformed in ways I can hardly explain. I bet you may be sick of me posting about fundraising, so help a sister get fully funded!
