Mickey, Minnie and two of the gang ( I’m calling them Donald and Daisy..especially since Daisy rarely gets the limelight)..are living inside of me… Well not LITERALLY.. but that’s what I decided to name my four new friends.. 2 of which are parasites, and 2 of which are amoebas..
A lot of us in the house have been getting them.. mostly due to the unsanitary conditions we are serving in. And despite the ferverent effort of us 46… to keep the house as bacteria free as possible.. they have managed to wedge their little selves into our bodies..
I was diagnosed today with the Disney crew, and also got a wonderful gift… a nice burn on my arm from a coffee pot here in the house. Let me tell you.. it’s a beaut… And I’m actually glad it happened earlier because when I went back to the doctor for my results, she prescribed a burn cream for me along with my medicines.. So all is good.. the Disney gang and I are chillin, my arm is chillin.. and this is part of the world race experience…. which I wouldn’t trade for a comfy bed back home, or a sanitary bathroom, or the freedom to roam and go anywhere I like.. if it meant I could not meet the amazing children and people I met this month.
We really were blessed to have been introduced to such beautiful loving children. And I will treasure their giving hearts, and precious faces for my lifetime. Though they barely have clothes, though they barely have houses to live in, though there is dog poop and pee allover their streets and the river they bathe in, they welcome us into their homes and churches with arms open wide, and give what little they have. They may be considered poor economically..but they are quite rich in character and in regard for life.
And we had the privilege of hugging them, dancing with them, and sharing with them truths about Jesus.. not religion.. but relationship.. realness…hope..That they can rise up and be the change in their neighborhood, in their country with God’s help.
I have a video of our ministry here in D.R.but it’s taking about 3 hours to upload..and we have a squad meeting at the house at 9p.m. and it’s 8:30 right now. So I’ll hopefully get to post it tomorrow. In the meantime check out my teammate Jeff Mingin’s video.. he made a video of our team’s adventure up a mountain here in San Juan..which had NO trail.. that was a pretty awesome day too!
