I really wanted to sit down and write a blog about something deep and profound, or perhaps, goofy and random.. I mean , I should take advantage of it, because I have pretty good internet for the first time in quite some time.
My team and I leave for Puerto Galera, an island in the Philippines, tomorrow (which btw is Monday for you but is Tuesday for me…I am 13 hours ahead of you).
So anyway… I digressed, probably due to the delirium that comes with my body trying to adjust to this schedule. Like I said, I should probably write something profound or random, but I really don’t have anything extraordinary to write.
Something that people often don’t realize about the world race, is that this is life.. and though it may seem “extraoridinary” to some… it’s “ordinary” to me. It’s waking up expecting God to move in some way, expecting to see or hear something that is “not normal”…but then again…what is normal.Because all that is “not normal” has become quite normal to me.
I’m currently sitting in the middle of an amazing ministry compound called KIM Ministries (Kids International Ministries), with world racers around me wearing “running to break the cycle of poverty, through education” sleeveless shirts. They are running a 5k to fundraise for the ministry here, along with other missionaries, and Filipinos in the community.
I hear the sounds of the Filipino women in the kitchen laughing and singing to “Hey Soul Sister” by Train, as they diligently and joyfully, cook food for the the hundred plus people staying at the compound.
To my left, below me are about 30 missionaries from China doing some demolition work to construct a garage for the Filipino men to be trained in mechanics, and earn a decent living.
This is my “normal” life now… the randomness of it..
I’m just living. I don’t have to force anything, fit into any Christian mold, meet anyone’s superficial standards, or even worry about tomorrow.
Normal no longer has the definition that it had when I was in NYC…and that’s because God has changed it up.
The awesome thing is, that with the Holy Spirit, you don’t have to be on the world race to have your “normal” life rocked. You don’t have to be a continent away from America. Every day can be an adventure. Everyday can be filled with something random and exciting if you have the right eyes to see.
Eyes of Jesus.
So sorry I have nothing profound or deep to tell you… Though that doesn’t mean things aren’t going on in my heart… Most of it I can’t really put into words anyway. I’ll just have to show you when I get back, or through pics (though pics aren’t even accurate either)…
I encourage you to break out of “normal” and do something “extraordinary”..Let God show you something extraordinary today… ask Him for it… He will do it.
Let the extraordinary be your normalcy no matter where you are.
One of my favorite verses:
“A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can
have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed
of.” -Jesus via John 10:10 (msg)
Safe to say this is more than I ever dreamed of…And it’s only the beginning.
My team and I leave for Puerto Galera tomorrow to work with Threads of Hope, an organization that is on the preventative end of the human trafficking spectrum. I am PUMPED to be able to see this aspect of the fight against human trafficking.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
