Fun fact, I have never blogged in my life…I have never even kept a personal diary. Being technologically challenged, blogging is completely and totally new to me and I find it kind of, sort of, extremely scary and difficult. However, I also like to see it as one of the many things God is going to use to grow me throughout this new season of my life, and I find that extremely exciting!
So…That being said…Hello all!
For those of you who don’t know, my name is Beth and I am 22 years old. I grew up in the good old Antelope Valley (Lancaster, CA). There is not much to see here in the AV except for quite a few Joshua trees and tumbleweeds; but, I am pretty positive I have the best community of people surrounding me!
Currently, I am working as a vet assistant and I intern with my church’s children’s ministry in the summer. though I do love both my jobs, ministry has always been the key to unlocking the joy in my heart.
In fact, this pretty awesome man named Jesus once said, “it is more blessed to give then receive.” One of the many blessings that has come out of giving my time and energy to children and youth ministries is learning about the World Race. The World Race was mentioned to me for the first time by one of the parents about 6 months ago. When she told me she could totally see me going on this crazy intense 11 month missions trip I thought to myself “no way! I’m a homebody…home is where I belong.” But, God can do miracles…even to the point of working in my stubborn, hardened heart to stir in me a desire to simply go!
Simply going is not as simple to me as I feel it should be. It terrifies me. it’s not comfortable. It is not within the plans that I had for my life. But my plans are so far below His plans and my God is so much bigger then my fears.
My desire and prayer for this trip is that God will stir in me a deeper passion for Him and a stronger desire to love His people. My prayer is that with every emotional, spiritual, and physical trial, that frankly, I know I am not prepared to face, He will give me the endurance and strength to press forward toward the goal of drawing nearer and nearer to Him.
I am so excited to share this journey with all of you, and I hope that I can encourage you in my pursuit of Christ as you encourage me with your prayers.
P.S. Fun fact #2…just in case you have not already noticed…I absolutely love to improperly use ellipses (…) because it is so much easier then being grammatically correct…I will do my best, however, to use them less and less as this blog progresses! 😉
