I have now been the Dominic Republic a little over a week and have learned so much!!! We arrived here with four other teams and jumped into work after the first night. We carried over a thousand buckets of dirt up about 50 stairs for a few hours in order to lay down the flooring for a bathroom and then we mixed gravel to finish the floor as well in the heat. To say the least the majority of us got sunburned including me. I never realized how long it took for people in other countries to do this and only takes us in the states a few hours with tools. It definitely was a humbling experience. After we finished the bathroom, we began to prepare for teen camp.

The teens ranging from 12-16 arrived on Sunday night and stayed til Fri morning. We were in charge of various stations throughout the day, running games, leading worship, sleeping in the tents with the kids and getting to know them. They were so lively, joyous, and full of energy. I was responsible for partnering with Troy, on another team, and leading a hike that had hidden clues that they had to put together in order to make a word or bible verse and teach them a lesson. It was definitely right up my alley. I learned from them to be grateful for what I have and be joyous in all circumstances because God is so infinite. He will provide in all situations exactly what I need! Not any more, not any less. He is so Great!

In my quiet times I have also been learning how I look at my outward appearance and compare myself to others, God looks at my heart and when I feel off I need to go to Him for guidance and not look to others for their approval. God’s opinion is the only opinion that matters and His thoughts are what I should focus on. As long as I am seeking Him, everything else will be on track!

Thank you all for your prayers and supporting me I still have a ways to go in my fundraising, but I know that God will continue to provide as He always does. I will be having a Chick-a-Filet night on August 28th at the San Marcos location and would love for you to be able to come and support me. You just have to show up and say my name when you purchase your food! I will have a flyer soon. Thanks all!
