So you are probably wondering what brought me to the decision to go on this 11-month journey called the World Race.. let me take you back to 2017.
It is no secret that 2017 was not a good year for me. After two divorces in my family, a separation from a good friend, my great grandma passing away and some minor health problems(mono and low iron), I was feeling a little lost and uncertain of my future. I prayed for God to use me where ever. God put on my heart that He was going to call me out of Mississippi. I felt this calling on my life for over a year before hearing about the World Race. I am so glad I waited on the Lord. If I would have done what I thought God wanted me to do, I would have missed out on being with my family for this hard year. If you haven’t read my last blog, this is where the story picks up. Go read that one and then come back to read the rest of this blog!
Now I would like to talk about what’s been going on since being accepted. I was so excited when I found out I was accepted, as that was not an easy process for me. My next step was telling the family and friends that did not already know, which included my parents. My dad gave me his blessing as long as I got my mom’s blessing. So after talking with my mom and step dad, they felt it was too dangerous for me to go. As you can imagine, I was upset. I couldn’t understand why God would work all of these other things out, except for my parents blessing. UNTIL 15 minutes before I was to speak with my Admissions Advisor. You see, my parents went on vacation just days after I told them about World Race. They met a pastor and he talked to them about missions work. After talking with my mom, my step dad text me telling me the words that will certainly change my life, “start fundraising”. I was ecstatic and what was going to be a very hard call with my Admissions Advisor, turned into an encouraging and exciting start to what would be my World Race journey.
I titled this blog I Give My Life, because this song by Vous Worship became my prayer during times of uncertainty. I give my life and sacrifice what I have because God is the Ultimate. He is working things out that we could never imagine in our wildest dreams. I want to leave you with a few lyrics from this song. Thank you for reading this, I am praying blessings for each person that reads this! May God bless you!
“I give my life to the One who saved me
I give my life to the One who calls me friend
I give my life to the One who reaches out His hand.”
