-I was sick with a cold the whole week. Yuck.

-Dew from cold Tennessee nights is inconvenient when you’re sleeping in a tent outside. Rain is also inconvenient.  Especially, when you have to pack up said tent while it is still wet.

-Meat in foreign dishes irks me a bit.

-Curry is not my friend. A not so love poem to curry:

Dear Curry,

I hate your stinkin guts. You make me vomit. You’re scum between my toes.

Love, Me

[Get the “Little Rascals” reference? ;)]

-On that note, I’m a much pickier eater than I thought.

-I’m learning not to hold anything too close other than my relationship with Christ because all else can be taken from me or lost.

-A bit of my hope was restored in the men of our generation that week. There are some humble, selfless, respectful, strong men who have hearts that beat for the Lord and it is a beautiful thing.

-I was assured, without having to speak a single word of insecurity, that I do not need to prove myself to anyone because I am already loved and beautiful in the eyes of my Creator.

-I really love to dance. I kid you not, my friend Lauren and I bee-lined it to the dance floor every time we heard the Wobble come on. I’d squeal and jump up and down when I heard a good beat. I just want to dance. ALL. THE. TIME. One night, we danced to a chorus of African drums. I was in Heaven and I danced for Jesus like never before.

-I have acquired an additional set of parents to look out for me while I’m on the race. They hail from South Africa so they have amazing accents and they really love each other and us. It’s great.

-Hashtags were overused and abused at camp. Look up “#Hashtag” with Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake. You’ll understand.

-World Race alumni are stellar! They were/are so willing to help, serve, and love on you. You all inspire me more than you know.

-Orange is probably my least favorite color but it was our squad color. I rocked it anyway and looked ridiculous. Orange you glad you’re on B squad?! We’re so oranginal.

-I’m on team Kaleo!!! Shout out to my ladies and man!

Kaleo means to be called.

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” Ephesians 4:1 (NLT)

-Our route slightly changed. Mozambique, Malaysia, and Ukraine are out. Thailand, Turkey, and Albania are in! We’re pretty stoked about our new route 🙂
