There are few words that keep coming up.
responsibility
&
ownership
&
commitment
I’m finding that God is asking me to start taking some ownership. start taking some responsibility. I don’t think that God is saying that I have been irresponsible but he is saying, ‘ok babe, it’s been long enough..get out there and take initiative, go after your dreams, own them and carry the responsibility that comes with it! you don’t have to be afraid because i am totally for you and back you up 100%’
It’s easy to stay in that place of not knowing where you’re going and waiting on the Lord. We abandon all of our dreams and desires to only hear what God wants for our life. And I don’t think that is a bad place to be either. In fact…you don’t really get to a place of ownership if you’ve never given it completely to the Lord and waited on him. until you sit in that place of dependence on only the Lord, you can’t stand and be empowered. But then there is a point where his dream is our dream and we find out that ‘if it matters to us, it matters to him’ and he WANTS us to take those things we care about and DO something, anything!
And so I am at a place of asking myself, “what do i want to see happen in the world…and what am i going to do about it?”
that’s kind of a scary question because once i figure that out, i am then responsible.
‘Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.’ (Luke 12:48) Once I take ownership of something, something will be required of me.
No more shifting the blame to my culture, my generation, or what I’ve been taught…none of that. But finally standing up and taking responsibility for something. That is when I will see change and that is when I will see the Kingdom of heaven invade this earth. ‘…the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it.’ (Luke 16:16) If everyone is forcing his way into the kingdom of God, he is not able to wait for someone else to carry him or blame others for not helping him.
Once we know, we are responsible.
By the grace of God, I am choosing to take steps forward, knowing where I am headed. And I am choosing to make decisions and commitments that will hold me responsible. I am choosing to get up and get moving.
