It has been a beautiful week in the Dominican Republic with V Squad launching and starting ministry! It feels like it has already been a month but only because God has been doing some amazing things, V squad is totally rocking it, and I absolutely love my co-leaders and AIM staff.
As you know, I am in a different role and so my perspective, my experience and my stories are probably not going to look or sound the same as they have in the past. For me, this past week has been extremely busy and tiring, but overwhelmingly life giving as well. I literally swell up with so much love and joy whenever I think about my squad. It is one of those things that I can’t even explain and that I know is such a supernatural gift from God. I feel incredibly blessed to lead such amazing people. And I love what I do. I love that I have an opportunity to influence, encourage and build up the Church.
Being back in Latin America brings back such sweet memories and reminds me again of what we need more in the U.S. Living in the mountains and worshipping with the local people of the Dominican gives me more life than driving my car, buying random things I don’t need and being independent in the States. It is a feeling that had forgotten. I think that I had gotten into the thinking that I needed all my North American comforts and really forgotten what it feels like to be here. So it is the least to say that I am loving it here and feel absolutely blessed to be here with these people.
For those of you reading this wanting updates on what I am doing, I can give you what I do know! I am currently living the in the mountains where it is perfect weather during the day and gets pretty chilly at night. We are camping out and cooking all our own food. We have very limited internet and cell phone service. I haven’t showered since I have been up here (about 3 days) because it will be a cold bucket shower. We picked coffee beans today and are harvesting them tomorrow. We play with kids who don’t understand us. And we are encountering God everyday in such incredible ways. It is an absolutely breath-taking view from where we are living and I wish you all could see it. Unfortunately, the internet is not quite good enough to load pictures so you will have to wait. However, the pictures just do not give it justice!
I love you all and miss you all back home. Thank you for your prayers and all of your support!
God bless you!
