Seven
white people, seven large packs, and seven day-packs on a train
equals quite the spectacle. That was my team on our way to Ipoh.
There was no way our packs would fit into the overhead bins, so we
piled them into our leg room. Three hours later we grabbed our
packs, got stuck trying to fit through the doorway, and like a
puzzle, fit all of our bags in to the back of a small van.
We are
in Malaysia now! My team is living in Ipoh. The ministry for this
month looks very different from last month. Unfortunately, because
of religious / governmental issues, I can’t disclose too many details
about what exactly we will be working on and who we are working with.
A few of the things my team will be doing are leading church
services and youth groups, teaching English, working in a classroom,
prayer walks, and helping out in an orphanage for kids with
disabilities.
A
few random thoughts from being in Malaysia so far:
It’s
hot
My
feet get dirtier than in the Philippines
It’s
hard to meal plan for seven people and make everyone happy
Not
sure if I can ever get used to showering in the middle of the
bathroom floor
Going
out to eat is a guessing game (point at what looks good)
Living
in constant community is challenging
Splunking
is so great (exploring a cave, crawling through rivers . . . )
Fish
balls and rice for breakfast – hopefully not going to become a normal
routine
These pics are from splunking the other morning:
much
love!
