Sometimes I just don’t know what to write about, the details to include and how to have everything make sense.  This would be one of those times.  Last week was definitely a good week with a few different things I would like to highlight for all of you.

Tuesday was just like any other day here in Mukono.  We worked at the school in the morning, then went to an outreach church for preaching and evangelism.  It was almost time for dinner when we got a phone call from one of the other teams; they had been at a school casting out demons for a few hours, the demons were being stubborn and they needed us to come help them.  Our pastor picked us up after dinner and we were off to find the school and cast some demons out.  No one on my team had ever experienced demons before, so this was definitely an interesting experience.  When we got to the school there were multiple girls on the floor screaming and convulsing.  This was not an easy task and we learned a lot that night.  Through the power of Jesus, all of the demons were eventually cast out.  Such a weird experience.  If you would like any more details about this, feel free to ask; I would be more than happy to share what happened at the school.
The next morning Silas and I left for Gulu, which is in northern Uganda.  He has a friend that works at Krochet Kids (http://krochetkids.com/), an organization that employs local women to crochet hats; these women not only have the opportunity to make a good income, but also to receive mentoring and be a part of a savings and loan program.  While in Gulu, we also visited a couple of other organizations, 31 Bits (http://31bits.com/) and One Mango Tree (http://www.onemangotree.com/).  I really enjoyed the opportunity to see how different NGOs have been set up, the way they operate, and how they have impacted the community.

Friday morning we took a bus from Gulu to Kampala.  The whole squad was meeting up at a hostel Friday night to have a rest, before leaving early the next morning for white water rafting.  We woke up Saturday morning to heavy rain, but the bus still came and drove us to the Nile River.  The rain, the mud, and the cool temperatures did not stop us from white water rafting.  Our guide was fun and we only flipped once!  We had such a great day rafting and swimming in the river that Moses floated down in a basket as a baby.

It’s hard to believe that this is our final week in Uganda.  One week from today we leave for India – month 8.
much love!
