Never
did I think my first country in Africa would be the coldest yet on
the race. Stepping off the plane in Nairobi, Kenya, early New Year’s
morning, I was pleasantly surprised by the cool temps. I was able
to thoroughly enjoy wearing my hoodie and scarf. While waiting for
our room to be ready at the hostel, my one squad-mate, Erin, and I
snuggled up for more warmth to stop shivering. Never did I think
that would be my welcome to Africa! Unfortunately, it’s not that cool all the time, but the temperatures do drop at night.
On
the second my team left at 6 in the morning for Bungoma; it was about
8 or 9 hours on the bus across Kenya. This month we are working with
King Jesus Faith Ministries. There is not one specific thing we will
be doing, but everyday is filled with various activities and sharing
God’s love. This past week we moved bricks, evangelized
door-to-door, held a ministry for street kids, and did hospital
visitations. This month will be very stretching but good.
If
I thought my feet were dirty in other countries, I was mistaken.
This picture doesn’t quite do the dirt justice, but this is a picture
of mine and Sandy’s feet after just one day:
my
feet and Sandy’s feet
much
love!
