Things have changed so much over the last six months. I moved to a different country. Fell in love with my best friend. Started a music school. Learned Spanish. And I am getting married.
I recently quit teaching English at the local school. After the wedding, I will be living in a different city and it is just too difficult to make it to school every week without a car! But I was glad that I could have blessed the students for six months.
Victor and I have gotten more involved with a church plant in a different city. About 40-50 youth come to the service every Friday night. All but three of the youth are baby Christians. Victor and I are helping add structure to the church. July 6th they will be starting services every Sunday. Right now the youth are learning about tithing. We are trying to raise $150 each month to pay for rental space for the church. We were blessed to have someone donate money to buy chairs for the church. Victor and I are very excited about this new journey. Please pray that we can raise all the necessary funds for the rental space and that God continues to grow the church.
The music school has had its ups and downs. It started out with about 8 students and every week it has become less and less. I emailed a few of the students to find out why and many of them said they couldn’t afford the $10 a month. Victor and I were using the $10 a month to save up for more instruments and materials. However, due to their financial situation, we have decided to give some of the students classes for free. I hope that this allows the students to return to the school and continue learning. I have found a lot of joy in teaching music and seeing each student progress! Please pray that God will continue to provide resources for the school and more students to benefit from this school.
I continue to disciple a girl once a week. It has been a bit discouraging because she has had so many problems with leaders at the church. She hasn’t gone to church the last four weeks and no matter what I say, she won’t change her mind. I continue to meet with her and hope that my relationship with her encourages her to seek God. Please keep her in your prayers.
I also have been tutoring the Canadian children that live here with their family. It has been a joy to help out this family. I know that they give so much to the people here and I feel privileged that I am able to help them in some way. Also, I have seen so much growth in their children these past couple of months. It makes me feel like I am doing something right!
Victor and I are getting married in two weeks. We are so excited and blessed. My parents and two siblings are flying down. I am so happy that I get to share my life here with my family and that they are able to meet Victor. I am ready to relax and spend time with my family. Please pray for Victor and I as we start this new journey together.
