Training Camp is today!!!!!!!
In less than 13 hours and 45 minutes I’ll arrive in Gainesville Ga. to meet my World Race family/squad for the very first time! To say that I’m excited is truly the understatement of the year! Y’all…. I can’t sleep! I just keep thinking about training camp and meeting these wonderful people I’ve imagined introducing myself to since October 2012! What am I supposed to do? Squad & all of World Race training camp bystanders, I just want to go ahead and pre-apologize for the hot-mess fool that I imagine coming out in me the moment I step foot on training camp soil!
I am about to meet my family/squad/team/crew/possie for the year. Ok so not just any family but the people that I am supposed to know. The people that God knew I would need and that would need me back. The people that get missions and being good stewards. People that like helping people and love loving others. Individuals with stories and knowledge and secrets and a future. People to share my life with and to know how much words mean to me! People that by the end of this amazing journey will know me better than anyone because that’s what happens when you travel around the world for a year serving The Lord I. Community. Burden bearers and joy sharers!
I haven’t been a “camper” since 2006, I imagine that training camp will be the BEST camp I’ve ever attended! I know it will be! They say don’t have any expectations and well… My only expectation is that that I’m going to LOVE everything that is this next week! I can’t wait to pitch my tent, to use my new sleeping pad, to fall asleep to the sound of crickets and tent zippers, to expect the unexpected, to eat unidentified food, to worship with freedom, to get dirt beneath my nails, to fully wreck my chaos, to make up our “team name”, to exchange phone numbers, share camping tricks, and to feel the Holy Spirit all over it!
K squad I can’t want to meet you!!!
Check out that support bar Up top!!! HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen Camp peeps, First Baptist Jacksonville, Tshirt supporters, Red Hill UMC, JSU Friends, ZTA and so many more. You are a blessing to my journey my squad and my life! I can’t wait to show you what God is doing around the world through the eyes of Beth Milam! I’ve cried 3 times today and each time I caught myself laughing because I haven’t been this FULL in such a long time! It’s been a looong week at Camp Sumatanga packing, directing, counseling, slumber partying and attempting to get some sleep hahaa and I can’t imagine being anywhere else while preparing for this journey of a lifetime!
