"Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of other."
                                      ~Philippians 2:1-4

My pastor has been preaching on Philippians and this passage, which he spoke on several weeks ago, immediately made me think about my team.

I have heard that one of the hardest things about the World Race is the community living. I've heard of great friendships being built and becoming a family, but I've also heard of teams that struggle to get along. With 6-7 different personalities on each team, I'm sure there will be interesting moments. I am SO excited to meet my team. I know that we will have some amazing moments in the 11 months we are together. However, I also know that for me personally there will be many struggles. While I have never wanted to live alone, I value my alone time and being able to escape to my room. The only time I ever had to share a room with anyone was in college. I like having space and an escape. I can also be very opinionated and judgmental (I'm sure some of you are nodding your heads at this point!) I know that I won't always agree with the people on my team and they won't agree with me.

We are going to face many battles. Satan will attack. Some of these may be transportation issues, stolen items, sickness, lost luggage, things that we don't have control over. We will also be attacked from within- Satan will tell us we can't get along, should be upset with others on our team, etc. In order for our team to stay strong in the face of the trials from without, we need to be able to deal with the trials from within our group.

The above verse is my prayer for our team, that we can stay "like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind" so we can TOGETHER face any trials brought our way.
