Guatemala! Favorite month so far! Favorite country so far! Oh wait, it’s my first country! I guess it’s a good thing it’s my favorite!

I am truly having an amazing time in Guatemala! We are staying in tents at AGAPE in Action. Imagine 60 tents set up in a field with a hospital across the street. We get some pretty strange looks.

Yesterday, we started our ministry for the month. My team and I have the amazing privilege of working at Casa de mi Padre, an orphanage.

But this is no orphanage like I’ve ever seen. It is an absolutely beautiful house that is home to 22 beautiful children between the ages of 3 and 13.

What will we be doing? Running the orphanage, of course! We have been asked to take over running the orphanage while some of the staff goes on vacation for a few days. What does this mean? Pretty much, we’re going to be moms for a while!

We will cook, clean, do dishes, laundry, love on the kids, play with the kids, help get them ready for bed, get the kids up and ready at 5:30 each morning, do devotions with the kids, help with homework, and pretty much anything else we’re needed for. I’m looking forward to some quality time with the kids!

Prayer Requests:

  • Good health as we are in a new country with lots of “new,” some cold night weather, and some sick kids at the orphanage
  • Creative ways to communicate as nobody on my team is fluent in Spanish
  • The time we will be “running the orphanage” next Tuesday- Thursday and Monday-Wednesday the following week to go smoothly.
