Hello from Malaysia!

Oh, travel day!
Eleven days ago, I was racing from Thailand to Malaysia with 20 other people from my squad, attempting to make it through Thailand customs and into Malaysia before the border closed for the night. Thankfully, we made it with a couple minutes to spare and met our contact for the month on the other side. It’s not a real travel day without some sort of adventure!

Blessings and surprises!
We made it safely to the HOUSE we are staying in for the month, which is huge, has fans, and three bathrooms! It is such a blessing! When we pulled up to the house, racers from G-Squad, who spent the month of January at this ministry, immediately started carrying our huge packs inside the house for us. The next day, they showed us around town and that night prayed for us until 4:00 a.m.! We had no idea they would be there, but God, in His sovereignty planned it all out. What an incredible way to start the month!

Our ministry
This month, we are working in a kindergarten. I was thrilled! I’ve really started missing teaching, my students, and my school over the past couple months! And, I figured as a teacher, this was right up my alley and I would know exactly what to do! I am quickly finding out, though, that three-year-olds are SO different from first graders! Despite the language barrier (I’m pretty sure the kids in our classroom speak three different languages), we have been able to come up with some fun activities. The kids are adorable and I’m loving my time with them (though I definitely don’t think I’m called to be a preschool teacher!)

Answered prayer
We started working at the kindergarten last Tuesday and, honestly, the first day was rough! It was a day full of frustration and lots of crying (on the part of the three year olds…. Not us!) We wondered what the rest of the month would hold, but prayed for a better day on Wednesday. I think we all walked out with smiles on our faces on Wednesday because our two main criers had only cried part of the day and we had managed to keep the kids busy. One of these sweet girls now actually comforts the others who cry and seems to really enjoy class. It doesn’t seem like a big thing, but I am definitely thankful for this little miracle!
