-
Level 1:
- You find a fly in your food and you cannot eat.
- You dump your plate and start again.
-
Level 2:
- You find a fly in your food.
- You fish the fly out and keep on eating.
-
Level 3:
- You find a fly in your food.
- You eat the fly and thank God for the extra protein.
-
Level 4:
- You feel cheated if there is no fly in your food. (“That’s my fly! Gimme that fly!”)
So, I definitely can’t see myself ever being at level 4. To be perfectly honest, level 3 would be a HUGE stretch for me! Not sure any of this is going to happen. I tend to be pretty picky anyway. I mean, I don’t like pickles, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, fish, mustard, avocados, swiss cheese, etc. etc. etc. I figure that’s enough to give you a pretty good idea of just how picky I can be. I can remember 2 different times when I was young that I was not allowed anything else to eat until I finished an item from a previous meal (pizza and grilled cheese…. I realize these sound like pretty good choices, but trust me! They were pretty gross)! Pretty sure I sat the entire day being stubborn and refusing to eat.
I’m not looking forward to some (or a lot) of the food that I’m sure I will be served at some point. Mexican food isn’t exactly my favorite and rice gets old after a while (or maybe a day).
BUT
I will have food to eat. I will not starve. I will have what I need each day. And for that, I am thankful. God will provide what I need each day, including food to eat and the ability to eat it regardless of what it looks, smells, or tastes like.
My prayer for this trip, and life every day, is that I won’t worry about or focus on the food I eat, but that I will strive to seek His Kingdom and work for His glory, that others may know Him! He is good, He is faithful, and He will provide.
~Matthew 7:31-33
