So here I sit on a comfortable couch in the quiet while the little girls I babysit are sleeping soundly upstairs. The fact that they have slept in until after 8:00 at least 3 days this week still amazes me. And now, today, I realize that this is my "last day" with the girls, or at least my last consistent day. I have been amazingly blessed to spend the month of June with Melia and Maylei: playing, singing, laughing.

Some of my favorite moments:
-Cuddling with Maylei on the couch early in the morning
-Listening to Melia chatter on ALL DAY LONG about anything that comes to her mind
-Painting with water (which is exactly what it says: grab a paint brush and cup of water and head outside to paint the sidewalk= painting for the lazy babysitter who doesn't want to clean up!)
-pushing the girls on the swing and singing/ talking with them for 20-30 minutes at a time (quite a long time for a 2 and 3 year old to be at one activity!)
-Hearing about Melia's imaginary friends/ brothers every day (though I won't miss Caleb, Jacob, Nathan, and Aaron nearly as much as the girls)
-Hearing Maylei "sing" along with the radio on our car trips.
-Watching Melia be a big sister to Maylei, helping her out, reminding her "not to touch things" in the store (even though she needed to be reminded herself!)
-Hearing Melia ask "Can you sing 'Lord, I love to sing your praises?' cause that's my favorite?!"
-Discussing with Melia that the chicken she's eating is the same thing as the animal (though I finally gave up on that conversation…. she'll find out one day!)
-Seeing Melia blow me kisses from the window as I leave.
-Being greeted by Melia's sparkling eyes peeking out from under the covers when I check to see if she's awake yet.
-Skype dates with Chrissy and Mira where Melia asks a gazillion questions and Maylei and Mira just stare at the video of each other!
-Hearing Melia ask "Is that girl going to put a shirt on?" at a dance recital, loud enough that the people around could hear 🙂
-Playing at the park and having to leave because the girls saw a spider and wouldn't play anymore
-Perfecting the art of making cheesy eggs for breakfast in the morning
-Practically memorizing "The Cat in the Hat" because we read it almost every day
-Making a fort in the living room and playing in it all morning on a rainy day!
-After singing "My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do!" and having her ask, "Why can't God do anything?" explaining to her that God can do ANYTHING!
-Melia asking if she can put on her "Meliatard" (leotard)
-Hearing Maylei call my name, turning around, only to see Maylei laughing because she "got me"
-Maylei's giggles

Swinging is SO fun!

Our awesome fort!!!

So today, I am thankful for kids and the joy they bring to my life, and especially for the time I've been able to spend with Melia and Maylei this month! So blessed!
