This is a frequent question that I have received from so many.

However, I do not know exactly what the journey will be like because I am not given those details and I am not sure I will know what I will do until I land in that specific country.

I can share what typical ministries look like on the race: preaching the Gospel, serving in orphanages, planting churches, and ministering to people who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking. Others who have gone on the race before mentioned construction and Vacation Bible school as two other ministries that are common as well.

This summer has brought opportunities to experience a glimpse of several of these ministries. My church is studying a series called “Be Justice” based from Micah 6:8 (“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”). We have studied and then applied these truths in service projects with several areas that the Lord calls us to in His Word (Orphans, Sick, Widows, Oppressed/Human Trafficking, and Homeless). This series has shown me how much brokenness there is in the world and what a privilege it is to deliver the hope and restoration of the Lord to so many people that are facing such trials.

I know for certain that as I continue to prepare for this trip, especially spiritually, I realize how much more I need God’s grace and mercy to endure this journey. I know that it will break my heart to see children, men and women sold into slavery, forced to search for food in the garbage, made to beg for money or food, and left to live without guardians or families. As I understand how difficult this will be to see, I also know that as I serve Him and serve His people, He will sustain me and renew my spirits. He will give me strength to bring His redeeming love and restoring hope to these people.

Lastly, The team at Adventures in Missions put together a video to help you see what it will be like for me on the race.
