Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, just as you are progressing spiritually. 3 John 2

#HealthTrack

I have come to realise that my relationship with God is a lot like my relationship with exercise.

Prior to the race I would go to the gym or out on my bike at least five times a week. If I missed a day of exercise, I felt sluggish, like I had let myself down.

I found that the more I exercised, the more I wanted to. I felt healthier, was able to push myself harder and for longer. It became a necessity, something I had to do.

The more you exercise the healthier you get and the more you want to exercise. I  order to become fitter you have to put the effort it. You reap the reward of working out.

Exercising and staying healthy is similar to your relationship with God.

On the race I have found that the more time I spend reading the Bible or praying the easier it gets. You get into a routine just like with exercise.

The more you spend time with God, whether it is praying, reading the Bible or worshipping, the deeper your relationship with him becomes, the closer you feel to him and the more time you want to spend in his presence.

Month six in Lesotho, I had a great mix. Everyone morning between 8-9am we had a dedicated quite time – I was able to really focused on my relationship with God. I used the time to really get into my devotional, to spend more time in my Bible and to talk to God as a friend.

We also had a #HealthTrack challenge – The Squat Challenge! A bit of friendly competition for the squad. We started on five squats and increased by five a day. I also was lucky enough to  be able to use a weight made out of cement and paint cans to do Clean and Jacks and to hold my feet down when doing core exercises.

Not quite like the weights in my gym!

On the race you have to think of creative and innovative ways to work out.

I haven’t always done a great job at keeping fit because it is a lot harder on the race than at home. I miss access to the gym and my road bike.

But whilst my general fitnesses may be disappearing at an alarming rate, my relationship with God is growing!

Perseverance is key! With God and with exercise! It doesn’t always get easier because you push yourself harder – but the results are noticeable, spiritually and physically.

Sometimes we try and make it fun, here is a video of my team ‘keeping fit’ in Vietnam:

I still need $600 to be fully funded, if you feel able to support me click here. Thank you.
