How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
- Speaking Spanish with Pastor & Ana
- The way Ana takes care of everyone when they’re sick
- The church we go to is basically like going to church at home, but it’s in Spanish (which makes the music practically better, but the message more difficult – my brain turns to mush)
- The predictability of the rain – la lluvia
- Adventures to Esteli & Condega markets with Ana
- Family dinner table meals with #teamYebo
- Close proximity of other teams for those times when we get tired of our own team
- The food – from the gallo pinto to every other thing they’ve fed us
- Cool nights & mornings for good sleep
- English classes – conjugating verbs and learning new words with Pastor, Ana, & community boys
- We started this month with baptisms, baby dedications, and the eucharist. #eucharisteo #givethanks
- That big hill / small mountain just behind the house – good for long talks, alone time, and getting a glimpse at God’s day-glory and night-glory. #skiesandclouds
- Cheap internet that we really don’t need a lot of, but love dearly.
- People like Esperanza who let us bake cakes at their house on the fly.
- Hugs and kisses all the time.
- Studying John.
- The mountains we drive through for ministry.
- Meeting Ana’s parents in Condega & Esteli.
- That Mexican taco place in Esteli that’s Ana’s favorite (or the buffet – both good).
- Our contacts knowing & joking about how much we love ice cream & popcorn.
- A tv to watch baseball on.
- Teenagers to laugh with and practice Spanish with.
- Painting, sweeping, laundry, and other things that fill our days.
- Team Labo living up to our “other” name.
- The green mixed with the brown and yellow outside.
- Learning how to make salsa and guac in one day.
- Canyon adventures to be labeled “peligroso” even though we weren’t told that at first – and making it through.
- Living the #ChacoNation with half the team. #loveontop
- Taking a break from work to milk cows.
- Learning to see through fresh smells on the mountain side.
- Land wrinkles in the mountains and roads.
- No rocks in the dirt.
- Saying goodbye still hurts.
- A washing machine to wash clothes.
- Work days that aren’t full at all and leave room for tons of adventures afterward.
These are a few of my favorite things.
