WELCOME TO ASIA.
Month four: China
Contacts: Well…we didn't really have any.
Ministry: Visiting a local college campus – we built relationships with students and shared Jesus with them.
Firsts: beef noodle, trip to the Great Wall, big sickness,
What I learned: My body doesn't operate well in cold climates, I can function with practically no sleep and a cold, but it's not pretty. It's okay to say no. I don't need the internet, but I do now love Downton Abbey.
Things I still miss: Quality street food, wearing boots, the potato lady, snow (only sometimes..for very short periods of time), lots of tea.
Month five: Malaybalay, Philippines
Contacts: former Racers, Will & Tara Miller
Ministry: helping at the orphanage, construction projects, college ministry, street kids.
Firsts: Hammocking more than 18" off the ground, caving, (second) country with quality coffee shops, ride on a moped, successful thrifting, tattoo.
?What I learned: Spirit & Word work together (I knew this, but shoot, I learned). Some people have really skewed theology. God calls us to build people up. Alone time is definitely needed. God's timing is perfect.
Things I still miss: autos, those iced coffees at the secret coffee place, riding on the top of the big jeepney, bonding fun with Lizzie, singing "22" by Taylor Swift in the blue van with everyone, fresh pineapples & mangoes (the best in the entire world).
Month six: Ongole, India
Contacts: Naomi, Sarah & James
Ministry: working with special needs orphans, village ministry, office work (including some graphic design & social media marketing!)
Firsts: eating water buffalo, real chai, sari, working with special needs orphans, month sleeping on a couch, and you could put most of the food I ate this month in there.. haha =)
What I learned: God is sovereign. The Church is like a body (hmm..scripture?). When one part is affected, the whole body is affected.
Things I still miss: the tortillas & yellow stuff (food..don't ask..I don't know the real names), being so close to Erin & Amy & Liz! Seeing Ceena TONS of times. Designing with Lizzie.
