Writing has always been my mode of communication with God – both to Him and from Him. This was written during our first worship night in Nelspruit at debrief (30 November). God explained to me that I affirm others in their identity and place in the Kingdom – as children of God, coworkers with God, coheirs with Christ, and more—but I often forget to afford myself the same affirmation. This is that affirmation.

Abba, I belong to you.
El-Shaddai, all-sufficient one, I belong to you.
Adonai, I belong to you.
Yahweh, Ibelong to you.
Prince of Peace, I belong to you.
as your bride, as your love, as your Beloved.
King of kings, I belong to you
as queen. as princess.
Daddy, as the apple of your eye.
As your daughter.
Most High, I am your beloved.
You chase after me.
You meet me each morning
with a gentle touch,
with a kiss of sunshine,
with the gentle embrace of the breeze –
of your breath upon my skin.
Long before I awake
you have come to watch over me, breathe
over me, pray over me.
The flowers bloom
because you love me.
The clouds move because
you want me to see your glory.
Like Moshe, I can’t see your face
So you hide me in the cleft of a rock
and show me you in all of your creations–
in the power of the lightning
and gentleness of the rain as it falls.
Your whisper is the thunder
and your breath is the air that I breathe.
Your living water is what feeds me.
I am a tree planted right beside your stream
and I am overwhelmed with your goodness.
I am not tossed by the wind
because my roots are deep in You,
the ground from which I grow.
I am not afraid of the cold or the heat,
or fire or ice, or flood or drought
or lightening or wind
because I know who you are
and I know what you’ve created –
me and all of these things.
I know that You are a Mighty Fortress-
You are protector, warrior
tie post. You are the one
that holds me when I’m weeping
While I’m sleeping You are cleansing me,
washing over me, refreshing. Healing.
I am never too far from You.
Daddy, I’m your little girl.
When you come home from work you want to see me.
You want to pick me up and hold me and love me.
You love me.
You grieve when I grieve and hurt when I hurt
and rejoice when I rejoice.
When I decided to come on the Race,
you thought it through and said
“this is good.”
You told me it would be hard,
but it would be worth it.
You told me you’d come with me
you’d make yourself enough to fill me
and the people with me. You said you’d
already paved the way. You’ve been thinking
about this longer than I have – longer than I’ve been alive.
You gave me Your blessing.
God, you sent me out with your BLESSING!
Abba, thank you for constantly embracing me –
not when I’m feelings suffocated by people
or just when I need it,
but always.

You are always.

When I was born you put breath in my lungs
with a purpose.
with a passion.
You didn’t create me to be docile.
You created me to be strong.

I am a daughter of a warrior and therefore a warrior.

You’ve put the world at my fingertips.
You’ve given me gifts and talents
for such a time as this.
No one else can do what you’ve called me to do.
My calling is specific to me
because you love me.
I can bring glory to Your name
in a way no one else can.
Lord, I want to bring glory to Your name.
I want to carry your name everywhere I go-
with bare feet and sunshine and a little dance.
With crazy hair that might not be curly or straight.
with dancing eyes and laughter.
with a smile on my face.
with Joy.
I am kind. Passionate. Free-spirited. Creative.
a listener. A writer. A nurturer.
a warrior.
a daughter. A bride.
Thank you, Abba, for confirming my identity.
For satisfying me in all that you are.
